Emergency or Personal Leave. In the event of an unforeseen emergency or important personal business, a regular employee may use up to five (5) days of sick leave per school year for emergency or personal leave, either in advance or retroactively, for a contingency not provided for by statute or other school District policies. An emergency is defined as an unforeseen situation that calls for immediate action and must be taken care of during working hours. Personal leave is limited to the transacting of important personal business that can only be accomplished during the normal work day. Leave granted under this policy shall be for emergency or important personal business that necessitates an employee's absence. In the event the supervisor grants permission for the employee to leave early for an emergency (including important personal business or important family matters), the employee shall not be required to submit a District Emergency Leave Request Form, provided it is not necessary to hire a paid substitute. If a paid substitute is necessary, the leave must be applied for on the proper form. Application for emergency leave must be made through the Human Resources Department. The form for applying for emergency or personal leave is included as an appendix to this Agreement.

Emergency or Personal Leave. Three (3) days of emergency leave and/or personal leave shall be granted each year to each professional teaching employee. For personal leave days, the following requirements will prevail: a. No more than five (5) of the total professional staff housed at the Maple Avenue Campus, three (3) of the off-site Staff, and four (4) of the Itinerant Professional Staff will be granted a personal day on any one (1) day. b. A personal day shall not be granted unless the immediate supervisor has been given at least five (5) days' notice of an intent to take such a personal day. c. Where emergency leave is granted, the professional teaching employee shall, within five (5) days of his return to employment, provide a brief description of the emergency upon a form to be supplied by the administration. d. An employee may accumulate up to seven days of personal leave for use during any year. After the employee has accumulated seven days any unused personal days shall be converted to sick leave. e. Individuals requesting personal leave shall not be required to provide reasons, nor be restricted to specific times of the year.

  • Personal Leave Written request for a personal leave of absence without pay will be considered on an individual basis by the Hospital. Such requests are to be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor at least four (4) weeks in advance, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice, and a written reply will be given within fourteen (14) days except in cases of emergency in which case a reply will be given as soon as possible. Employees needing personal leave days for appointments with medical practitioners may utilize the personal leave language. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

C. Appearance in court as litigant. D. Serious or critical illness or injury of member of the immediate family, as defined, of such a nature that the immediate presence of the employee is required during his workday. E. Other significant circumstances which are not school or school district related, that the employee feels need immediate attention. 14.17.2 Before the utilization of personal necessity leave, a unit member must provide prior notice to the appropriate supervisor, except in cases of A, B, and D. Should the circumstances outlined in A, B, D arise, the employee shall make every effort to comply with the District procedures to enable the District to obtain a substitute. 14.17.3 P.N. under “E” shall not be used on Friday or Monday unless previously approved by their immediate supervisor. 14.17.4 Leave shall not be available for the following: Withholding services to the District Shopping Seeking other employment Recreation Extending vacation or holidays Donating Service Attendance at non-professional meetings

  • Personal Emergency Leave 1. An educator will be granted up to five (5) days of leave per year to cover situations beyond the control of the educator which would significantly impair teaching service. Personal emergency leave may not be used for illness or injury, or illness or injury in the immediate family. Deductions from the gross pay of an educator for this leave shall be made at the degreed substitute rate of pay for each day taken. 2.   • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Emergency Leave Notwithstanding any provisions for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant leave of absence with or without pay to an employee in emergency or unusual circumstances.
