UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. There shall be deducted each month from the pay of each employee, including casual employees, an amount equivalent to regular monthly Union dues. Deductions shall be made from each pay period and shall be forwarded to the Secretary-Treasurerof the Local, orthe National Secretary-Treasurerof as directed by the Local, not later than the day of the month following, accompanied by a list of the names, addresses and classifications of all employees from whose wages the deductions have been made. The list shall also indicate the amount of dues deducted from each employee. The Union shall indemnify and save the Board harmless with respect to all claims and demands made against the Board by an employee as a result of the deduction and remittance of dues by the Board pursuant to this Article. The Board agrees to acquaint new employees with the fact that a Union Collective Agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment as set out in the Articles dealing with the Union security and dues check-off. And further, they provide the new employees with a copy of the Union brochure. The Board agrees that no employee in the bargaining unit shall be laid off or have their regular hours of work reduced as a result of bargaining unit work being performed by persons whose regularjob is not in the bargaining unit, as a result of contracting out, or as a result of the use of volunteers. The regular hours of work for a position occupied by an employee referred to above shall be the hours in effect as at the ratification date of this agreement. Regular hours for positions created during the term of this agreement shall be those established on the posting. In order to provide job security for the current members of the bargaining unit, the Employer agrees that all work or services which are currently performed by bargaining unit employees shall not be sub-contracted, transferred, leased, assigned, or conveyed, privatized, in whole or in part to any other plant, person, company, or non-bargaining unit employee. The foregoing will not operate so as to prohibit the contracting out of work or services of the same type performed by the bargaining unit members, provided that such contracting out is in addition to the continued work of the bargaining unit members or is restricted to periods of peak demands. UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. 10.01 It shall be a condition of continued employment that:
(a) each Employee in the bargaining unit who is a member of the Union in good standing on the effective date of this Agreement shall remain a member in good standing;
(b) each Employee in the bargaining unit who is not a member of the Union on the effective date of this Agreement shall, not later than the 30th calendar day following its ratification, become and remain a member in good standing; and
(c) each Employee in the bargaining unit who is hired on or after the effective date of this Agreement shall, not later than the 30th calendar day following the beginning of such employment, become and remain a member in good standing of the Union.
10.02 The Employer shall deduct from the salary of each Employee the amount of the regular union dues and remit the amount to the Union, at the end of each month.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF.
1. Dues-paying union members of this unit may actively participate in union affairs and may serve on negotiations or union committees or participate in similar activities to the interest of the unit.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. A. Upon receipt of an employee’s signed membership or other authorization form, the Santa Xxxxx Valley Water District will deduct the appropriate dues or fees from the employee’s pay, as established and as may be changed by IFPTE Local 21 according to its bylaws, and remit such dues or fees to IFPTE Local 21. Deductions will continue unless the employee mails a written revocation to IFPTE Local 21 in accordance with the terms of the authorization form, or, absent any such terms, by mailing a written revocation to the Union that is postmarked during the 30-day period immediately prior to the annual anniversary of the date on which the employee signed an authorization form.
B. The Society/IFPTE Local 21 agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold the District harmless from any and all claims, demands, suits, or other action arising from the provisions of this Section or from compliance with employee cancellations of check–off authorizations.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. 2.01 All employees covered by this Agreement shall become members of the Union and maintain membership in good standing as a condition of employment.
2.02 The Company agrees to deduct from the wages of each employee, such Union dues, initiation fees and assessments as are authorized by the Union. The Company further agrees to deduct the Union dues automatically from the wages of new or rehired employees’ first pay. Monies deducted during any month shall be forwarded by the Company to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Union within twenty (20) calendar days following the end of the Company’s four (4) or five (5) week accounting period and shall be accompanied by a four (4) or five (5) week or monthly written statement of the names and social insurance numbers of the employees for whom deductions were made and the amount of each deduction. The Company shall also provide the Union, when remitting the monthly cheque, with the names of employee’s and name change of employees. The Union shall indemnify and save harmless the Company from all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action which may arise out of or in any way connected with the collection of Union dues in accordance with the terms of this Article. The parties have agreed to discuss at a future date, the electronic transmission of union dues, for implementation at a time when the needs of both parties can be met.
2.03 Each year the Company shall calculate the amount of Union dues deducted from the employee’s pay and shall indicate same on the T-4 slip for each employee no later than February 28th.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. The Employer shall make payroll deductions from pay or wages of employees upon submission of a signed check-off card for the employee. Amounts deducted shall be remitted to the Controller of Ohio Council 8, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, at 0000 Xxxxx Xxxx Xxxxxx, Xxxxxxxxxxx, Xxxx 00000. The Union shall advise the Employer, in writing, of the amounts to be deducted.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. 4.01 All existing employees of the Board who are members of the Union shall remain so. All new employees may either join the Union if they so decide or may refrain from joining the Union if they so decide.
4.02 It is understood and agreed that not withstanding the provision of 4.01 above, if any employee is expelled or suspended from the Union, this provision will be satisfied if the employee pays the equivalent of union dues to the Union.
4.03 The Board agrees to deduct, each pay, from the wages of all employees in the Bargaining Unit, Union dues as directed by the Union from time to time. The Board also agrees to deduct and remit an amount equivalent to the Union initiation fee from each new employee upon the successful completion of their probationary period. The Union shall notify the Board, in writing, of the amount of such dues to be deducted under this section and, provide at least thirty (30) days written notice of any changes in the amounts thereof that may be directed from time to time. The Board shall forward these deductions to the Union once each month, together with an alphabetical listing of names showing:
a) the amount deducted from each employee;
b) the total amount of dues deducted to date from each individual employee;
c) all information used to determine this deduction - including but not limited to: the employee’s regular hourly rate; gross weekly earnings and; overtime. Such remittances will be forwarded to the Union so that they are received not later than the fifteenth (15th) day of the month following the month in which the dues have been deducted. Payroll deductions will not include any fines. Union dues will be included on the employee’s T4 slip (for income tax purposes). In consideration of the deduction and forwarding of Union dues by the Board, the Union agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Board against any claim or liability arising out of, or resulting from, the collection and forwarding of regular Union dues or Union initiation fees.
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. The City shall, for the duration of this agreement, deduct regular Union dues each week from the paycheck of each employee who indi- vidually and voluntarily certifies in writing authorization for such deduction. The Union agrees to indemnify and save the City harmless against any and all claims, suits or other forms of liability arising out of the deduction of money for Union dues from an employee's pay. The Union assumes full responsibility for the disposition of the monies so deducted once they have been turned over to the Treasurer of the Union. The authorization for Union dues shall be on a form acceptable to the Employer and shall contain the following sentence: "I agree to indemnify and save the City harmless against all forms of liability arising out of the deduction of money for Union dues from my pay."
UNION SECURITY & DUES CHECK-OFF. A. Union Security
1. All current employees covered by this Agreement and all new employees hired, rehired, or transferred into the bargaining unit, within 10 days after the 30th day of employment shall be given the opportunity to voluntarily elect whether to join the Union or to refrain from joining.
2. As a condition of employment, all employees shall either become a member of the Union and pay dues, or shall pay a service charge equal to the amount of the periodic dues required by a member of the union, which amount is related to the Union’s core representational activities such as collective bargaining and administration of the labor contract. The parties acknowledge that this provision does not apply to contributions to Political Action Committees. Such contributions, through a payroll deduction, require voluntary authorization as required by the Michigan Campaign Finance Act. All employees have the right to join, not join, maintain or drop their membership in the Union as they see fit.
3. The Union shall indemnify and hold the Employer harmless against any and all claims, demands, suits and other forms of liability, that may arise by reason of the Employer's complying with the provisions of this article.
