Familiarization. The objective of this part of the training program is to familiarize the trainee on the jobs that the trainee will work when the program is completed. The new trainee is not to be placed on the board until both periods have been completed. The amount and type of familiarization required to be able to perform the functions of a Trainman to be based on the likely jobs that employee will be working upon completion of the program and are to be determined through consultation between the Company and Local Union Officers or their representatives. In the event there is disagreement at the local level, the matter will be advanced to the General Chairman and General Manager for resolution. If resolution cannot be reached at that level the matter will be advanced to the VP Field Operations and the VP/NLR TCRC for resolution prior to implementation.
Familiarization. An employee who fills a vacancy under Article 16 (Job Posting) or has been demoted under Article 17 (Lay off) shall be given a reasonable period (not to exceed 10 shifts) to familiarize himself with the particular work place or area of the job.
Familiarization. (a) Prior to the delivery but after the sea trials, the BUYER may send their crew to the Shipyard in preparation for the delivery with the SELLERS’ and/or BUILDER’s consent. The above mentioned Observers and crew of the BUYER shall not interfere with or obstruct in any way the BUILDER's supervision during the construction of the VESSEL and/or the building schedule of the BUILDER, but shall be given free and ready access to the VESSEL, its hull, machinery, equipment, coatings and out-fittings in the Shipyard only and in such way not to obstruct smooth construction of the VESSEL.
(b) The Observers and the crew shall at all times be deemed to be the employees of the BUYER and not of the BUILDER and the SELLERS. The BUILDER and the SELLERS shall be under no liability whatsoever to the BUYER, the Observers and the crew for personal injuries, including death, suffered during the time when he or they are on the VESSEL, or within the premises of the Shipyard, or are otherwise engaged in and about the construction of the VESSEL, unless, however, such personal injuries, including death, were caused by a gross negligence of the BUILDER and/or the SELLERS, or of any of its employees or agents or subcontractors. Nor shall the BUILDER or the SELLERS be under any liability whatsoever to the BUYER, the Observers and the crew for damage to, or loss or destruction of property in Japan of the BUYER or of the Observers and the crew, unless such damage, loss or destruction were caused by a gross negligence of the BUILDER and/or the SELLERS, or of any of its employees or agents or subcontractors.
Familiarization. The successful candidate moving to an equal paid or higher paid position within the bargaining unit will be placed on a familiarization period of up to one
(1) week. During that time, either the Company or the employee may terminate the familiarization period, in which case the employee will be returned to their previous position and wage rate. If the employee’s former position no longer exists, the employee may avail himself of bumping rights as per Article 15.01.
Familiarization. A. Engineers involved in the consolidation of the St. Louis Hub covered by this Agreement whose assignments require performance of duties on a new geographic territory not familiar to them will be given full cooperation, assistance and guidance in order that their familiarization shall be accomplished as quickly as possible. Engineers will not be required to lose time or ride the road on their own time in order to qualify for these new operations.
B. Engineers will be provided with a sufficient number of familiarization trips in order to become familiar with the new territory. Issues concerning individual qualification shall be handled with local operating officers. The parties recognize that different terrain and train tonnage impact the number of trips necessary and the operating officer assigned to the merger will work with the local Managers of Operating Practices in implementing this Section. If disputes occur under this Article they may be addressed directly with the appropriate Director of Labor Relations and the General Chairman for expeditious resolution.
C. It is understood that familiarization required to implement the merger consolidation herein will be accomplished by calling a qualified engineer (or Manager of Operating Practices) to work with an engineer called for service on a geographical territory not familiar to him.
D. Engineers hired subsequent to the effective date of this document will be qualified in accordance with current FRA certification regulations and paid in accordance with the local agreements that will cover the merged St. Louis Hub.
Familiarization. Seller and/or agrees to spend, at no cost to Buyer, a period of [ ] [ ] days [ ] weeks [ ] month(s) during normal business hours exclusive of holidays and Sundays, from the Closing Date, to assist Buyer and employees in the orderly transfer of the Business.
Familiarization a) Familiarization training is for situations where Employees already have the qualifications and competencies for their position and do not require instructions to be able to apply their knowledge in a new work environment.
b) Employees assigned to provide this familiarization training shall receive no additional remuneration. The Employer shall ensure that Employees have the time required to adequately transfer the required knowledge, which may include reducing their workload.
Familiarization. Familiarization is defined as a short period of time to which an employee is entitled in to acquaint himself with the particular details and routine of a new job. Familiarization. Q.1. An engineer who makes familiarization trips only on the portion of the geographic territory where he intends to work may later exercise to another part of the territory with which he is not familiar. Does this Agreement apply to the necessary additional familiarization trips?
A.1. Yes, no matter how much time has elapsed from date of implementation of this Agreement.
Q.2. Who will approve an engineer as being properly familiarized on a new territory?
A.2. An engineer will not be considered qualified on a new territory until check ride is given by the designated Carrier officer as per the requirements of 49 CFR, Parts 240.127 and 240.129.
Q.3. May a brakeman, conductor, other employee not specified in the Agreement be used to familiarize an engineer on an unfamiliar geographic territory?
