HEAT POLICY. The parties recognise the risk to worker health caused by exposure to high temperatures in the work environment. To reduce the potential for heat related illness, the parties agree to the following heat policy. Workers should be alerted to possible extreme or excess heat conditions by the Company, HSR and/or the WHS Committee before commencing work or as soon as practicable after work commences. Once the temperature reaches 35 degrees, there will be an orderly cessation of work and preparations for safe completions of critical tasks currently under way. During periods of hot weather, if there are areas of the workplace that are below 35°, work shall continue as normal. Workers will walk a reasonable distance through the open to and from amenities, provided it does not pose a serious threat to their health or safety.

HEAT POLICY. 22.1 A heat stress policy shall be enforced as follows:
22.1.1 Employees will be entitled to a 10 minute paid rest break within each hour when the temperature reaches or exceeds 34 degrees celsius. 10 minutes paid rest break every hour Above 34 degrees celsius Employees will be sent home and be paid the remainder of the ordinary hours not worked for the applicable shift or in accordance with clause 22.1.5 Above 40 degrees celsius
22.1.2 The additional rest break as per 22.1.1, will not be in addition to ordinarily scheduled breaks. For example if an Employee is ordinarily entitled to a 10 minute paid rest break, the Employee will not receive an additional 10 minute paid rest break in accordance with 22.1.1.
22.1.3 The temperature is measured in an agreed location.
22.1.4 Where the temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees during the shift, Employees are required to present for work prior to the nominated start time.
22.1.5 Once the temperature reaches 40 degrees, Employees will be either provided with other suitable work if available where they are not working in 40 degrees, or if not available, work will cease and Employees may leave the site, provided that the task or activity being performed is completed.
22.1.6 In cases where emergency work is required or it is necessary to complete work already commenced to a practical stage, work may occur or continue provided that such work does not give rise to a reasonable concern on the part of an Employee undertaking the work of an imminent risk to their health or safety.
HEAT POLICY. Affected Employees will be withdrawn from working on-site or in the workshop and go home when the temperature is or exceeds 36 degrees. Employees will receive their base rate for the hours they would normally work. No overtime will be paid when the heat policy is active. Temperatures will be measured by the nearest automatic Bureau of Meteorology Monitoring Station.

(d) During periods of hot weather, if there are areas of the workplace that are below 35°, work shall continue as normal. Employees will walk a reasonable distance through the open to and from amenities, provided it does not pose a serious threat to their health or safety. By agreement with the Company and Employees during periods of inclement weather (heat) the Saturday break roster can be applied to weekday work.
HEAT POLICY. A heat policy regarding the working in heat-related inclement weather, that is appropriate for the industry, will be maintained during the life of this Agreement. There will be reasonable consultation with employees regarding the policy. Any changes to the policy will be subject to discussions/consultation with the HSR’s safety committee and workforce.
HEAT POLICY. 22.1 The Employer will not put any employee’s health or safety at risk due to heat related illness in the workplace.
22.2 Signs, symptoms and treatment of heat related illness:
(a) Early Symptoms (i) thirst;
HEAT POLICY. 33.1. It is recognised that during summer periods, heat within the factory can affect Employees and product quality if not controlled.Working in hot conditions can lead to heat stress and supervisors must take extra precautions to protect the health of everyone.
33.2. All cooling and air conditioning systems will be serviced prior to, and maintained throughout, summer.
33.3. Workplace temperature will be monitored to ensure that task rotation provides periods of lighter duties and cooler locations. The health of the individual (age can be a factor) will be considered and suitable tasks or extra rest periods will be provided.
33.4. Cool drinking water will be provided to all employees, who may take short drink breaks, without leaving the factory floor, at the closet drink fountain, with the permission of the Operator or Group Leader. No reasonable request for permission will be refused.
33.5. The Employer will monitor the temperature within the factory. If the temperature within the factory exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, as observed by the Supervisors and Health and Safety Representatives, then staff will add an extra 5 minutes on to their next and subsequent breaks.
