HEAT POLICY. The parties recognise the risk to worker health caused by exposure to high temperatures in the work environment. To reduce the potential for heat related illness, the parties agree to the following heat policy. Workers should be alerted to possible extreme or excess heat conditions by the Company, HSR and/or the WHS Committee before commencing work or as soon as practicable after work commences. Once the temperature reaches 35 degrees, there will be an orderly cessation of work and preparations for safe completions of critical tasks currently under way. During periods of hot weather, if there are areas of the workplace that are below 35°, work shall continue as normal. Workers will walk a reasonable distance through the open to and from amenities, provided it does not pose a serious threat to their health or safety.

HEAT POLICY. This procedure is established to relieve the effects of hot weather on working conditions in areas of the workplace where there is no cooled or conditioned air supply. It will apply when the temperature reaches 34°C as measured by a thermometer provided by the Company and placed at a location within the factory agreed by all parties. The temperature will be monitored by a member of the Management team and Plant OH&S Representatives. When the plant temperature reaches 34°C, rest periods will be taken as follows: If overtime is worked after the normal finishing time of 3:40 pm, a further rest period will be taken from 4:40 pm to 4:45 pm

HEAT POLICY. ‌ 37.1 The Employer acknowledges its responsibility to provide a safe working environment for its workers, and monitor the health of workers under the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 (Vic). 37.2 The Company believes the following factors must be taken into account. (a) The appropriate measurement must encompass factors such as radiant heat, humidity, air movement, air temperature and comfort factors. (b) It is also acknowledged that the same heat condition does not exist throughout the factory at the one time, entailing zonal differences. (c) It is further acknowledged that not all employees experience the same level of discomfort at a given temperature. 37.3 The company will endeavour to maintain control of the internal temperature of the workplace. 37.4 The following controls will be implemented: (a) There will be adequate cool drinking water readily available and in close proximity to employees. (b) Where employees report fatigue to supervisors due to thermal stress, supervisors will instruct/authorise employees to commence short paid rest breaks in a cool environment, such as an air conditioned room e.g. the lunch room. (c) Employees experiencing heat discomfort may leave their work station and have a cold drink of water in a cool air-conditioned environment. 37.5 Employees should: (a) Wear suitable clothing (loose fitting/ light clothing); (b) Ensure regular fluid intake; (c) If heat discomfort persists, report it to the supervisor and a first aider.

HEAT POLICY. 22.1 A heat stress policy shall be enforced as follows: 22.1.1 Employees will be entitled to a 10 minute paid rest break within each hour when the temperature reaches or exceeds 34 degrees celsius. 10 minutes paid rest break every hour Above 34 degrees celsius Employees will be sent home and be paid the remainder of the ordinary hours not worked for the applicable shift or in accordance with clause 22.1.5 Above 40 degrees celsius 22.1.2 The additional rest break as per 22.1.1, will not be in addition to ordinarily scheduled breaks. For example if an Employee is ordinarily entitled to a 10 minute paid rest break, the Employee will not receive an additional 10 minute paid rest break in accordance with 22.1.1. 22.1.3 The temperature is measured in an agreed location. 22.1.4 Where the temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees during the shift, Employees are required to present for work prior to the nominated start time. 22.1.5 Once the temperature reaches 40 degrees, Employees will be either provided with other suitable work if available where they are not working in 40 degrees, or if not available, work will cease and Employees may leave the site, provided that the task or activity being performed is completed. 22.1.6 In cases where emergency work is required or it is necessary to complete work already commenced to a practical stage, work may occur or continue provided that such work does not give rise to a reasonable concern on the part of an Employee undertaking the work of an imminent risk to their health or safety.
HEAT POLICY. As part of the responsibilities of the Site OHS Committee, a Heat Policy has been developed on terms that are agreed to by all members of the Site OHS Committee.
HEAT POLICY. 33.1. It is recognised that during summer periods, heat within the factory can affect Employees and product quality if not controlled.Working in hot conditions can lead to heat stress and supervisors must take extra precautions to protect the health of everyone. 33.2. All cooling and air conditioning systems will be serviced prior to, and maintained throughout, summer. 33.3. Workplace temperature will be monitored to ensure that task rotation provides periods of lighter duties and cooler locations. The health of the individual (age can be a factor) will be considered and suitable tasks or extra rest periods will be provided. 33.4. Cool drinking water will be provided to all employees, who may take short drink breaks, without leaving the factory floor, at the closet drink fountain, with the permission of the Operator or Group Leader. No reasonable request for permission will be refused. 33.5. The Employer will monitor the temperature within the factory. If the temperature within the factory exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, as observed by the Supervisors and Health and Safety Representatives, then staff will add an extra 5 minutes on to their next and subsequent breaks.
