Hot WeatherIn the event of a period of hot weather the following procedure as agreed between the Employees and their supervisor will be adopted to ensure the effects of Heat Exhaustion are avoided. (i) No automatic cessation of work. (ii) Provide shaded work areas where practical which may involve relocation to other work areas. (iii) Ensure that chilled drinking water is available adjacent to the work area. (iv) Change job, if after consultation between Employees and their immediate supervisor, it is agreed that the job at hand can wait until the temperature cools down. (v) Heat breaks shall be taken as necessary. (vi) If any Employee feels unwell due to heat, it is required that the Employee attends the Shell First Aid Centre for assessment before they go home. The Employee should advise their supervisor of their intention to attend the First Aid Centre. (vii) Change of start and finish times to avoid the hot parts of the day. If it is agreed that due to the effects of heat an Employee should not continue work he/she shall be permitted to leave the site with nil pay.
Hot Weather. 9.2.11.1 Location These additional hot weather procedures will apply on industrial/commercial building sites within a radius of thirty kilometres from the GPO Adelaide excluding the hills area. 9.2.11.2 Approach Where hot weather conditions are forecast the company will endeavour where practicable arrange the work process so as to reduce the employee’s exposure time to UV Radiation. An employee or the employee’s representative may raise the issue of inclement weather and this will be dealt with in accordance with clause 9.2.2 of this agreement. Hot Weather. (i) The parties to this agreement affirm that a commonsense approach will be taken during periods of hot weather so as to allow work to continue. (ii) The company shall monitor all work areas and employ such measures as task rotation, provision of adequate rest breaks, provision of cool drinks and provision of ventilation (where practicable) so as to prevent employees suffering the effects of heat stress while at work.
Hot Weather. As all halls at the Centre are fully air-conditioned classes will continue in hot weather. Members are required to bring a drink bottle, drink plenty of water before, during & after class. Coaches will structure lessons to be less strenuous and will allow additional drink breaks during the lesson. Please advise the Coach at the start of the lesson if a member is feeling unwell due to the heat. Attendance during hot weather will be at the discretion of the member. If not attending due to hot weather, please notify the club as soon as possible or you may choose to just come and watch.
Hot Weather. 36.2.1. When hot weather is forecasted, work should be rescheduled to ensure that the more strenuous tasks are completed in the morning. Where rescheduling is not possible, all reasonable precautions should be taken to avoid excessive exposure. 36.2.2. Employees engaged in Golf Course and Tree Watering shall commence at 6.00am if the temperature is forecast to be 38 degrees or above. All staff may commence their standard day within the span of hours’ Clause subject to not contravening any relevant legislation, such as the Environment Protection Act, 1993 and in consultation with the Field Team Coordinator. 36.2.3. If the temperature, as measured by the Bureau of Meteorology in the metropolitan area, reaches 38ºC then all employees, other than those from Workshops, Stores, Caretaker and Deemed Essential/Emergency Services consisting of: • 4 Parks and Gardens staff • 5 Civil Construction/Maintenance staff shall be directed to cease work on full pay for that day. 36.2.4. A roster for the purpose of Deemed Essential/Emergency Services shall be established each summer by management. 36.2.5. Staff required to remain at work as part of the roster shall undertake duties within a depot.
Hot Weather. 23.3.1 When the forecast temperature is expected to exceed 35 degrees, consideration shall be given to, (where practicable) implementing the following measures: • Flexible working hours i.e. commencing prior to the usual 7.00am start; • When hot weather is forecast, work should be rescheduled to ensure that the more strenuous tasks are completed in the morning. Where rescheduling is not possible, all reasonable precautions should be taken to avoid excessive exposure; • Rotation of employees engaged in heavier tasks; • Use of unscheduled breaks i.e. if required regular short breaks of five to ten minutes duration may be taken out of the sun to avoid the possibility of heat stress; • Altering the location of work; • Where possible, provision of alternative work or training under weather shelters; • Provision of sun shelters where practical. 23.3.2 During hot weather staff required to work outdoors shall: • Take frequent small drinks of water; • Wear/use approved personal protective equipment/issues; • Ensure works are carried out at a pace appropriate to the weather 23.3.3 Where the forecast temperature reaches 36° the following shall, where possible, be provided and accessed in the following order: • Meaningful alternative duties; • Meaningful training; • Access to TOIL on a gang by gang 50/50 basis. Where either training or alternative duties are completed, staff will finish work for the day without loss of TOIL. Flexible working hours shall be used as an option wherever possible and practicable. Where programs or reactive tasks allow, work may commence prior to the usual 7.00am starting time and on completion of daily work requirements, work will finish for the day without loss of TOIL or pay. Accordingly, on 1 July each year, each employee will be credited with 21 hours into their TOIL bank, with the exception of new and part-time employees who will receive a proportion of those hours on a pro-rata basis. Hot Weather. When the temperature reaches 35 degrees employees can be relocated out of the direct sunlight to another work area, place, or site. Before the temperature reaches 37.5 degrees Clause 31.5 is to be followed. The intention is that employees will be entitled to cease work for the rest of the day and be paid in accordance with this clause when the temperature reaches 37.5 deg C. Hot WeatherIn the case of hot periods, the work group shall plan the day according to the forecast conditions and use the AAPA guidelines to assist them in their planning. These guidelines shall be used to manage issues arising from working in heat. Rest breaks (to cool down) must be provided along with access to cool water. While working outdoors, the provision of an area to cool down must be available. The following guidelines should be observed as a minimum bearing in mind that the industry works extensively in country areas and on most days, employees are exposed to the sun. (a) When the weather forecast predicts temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius, early starts will be considered under the hours of work provisions. (b) When the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, rest breaks will be managed by the Company with consultation with employees. As working conditions become more inclement, rest breaks may be extended as temperatures increase. (c) Where the maximum temperature is expected to exceed or is approaching 35 degrees Celsius in the shade as indicated by the nearest Bureau of Meteorology Monitoring Station, consideration will be made for the health of employees working on the site. The crew should meet with the Crew Leader in a toolbox meeting to discuss the conditions on-site. The crew will reach a consensus on a course of action that puts the welfare of the employees first. If the crew decides that conditions warrant work stopping, all material within reason shall be laid and the job site shall be made safe. The crew will be sent home without loss of pay unless the Company is able to offer work in a climate-controlled area such as training, safety meetings or toolbox meetings at the discretion of the Crew leader or depot management.
Hot WeatherThe provisions set out in this Clause 8.5 must be observed and when the temperature approaches 35 degrees C, the conference process Clause 8.5.1 may commence.
