Meal and Relief Periods. An employee will be granted meal and relief periods during basic hours of work shifts in accordance with the table shown in subsection A5.05(b).

Meal and Relief Periods. The parties agree that for the purposes of Article 13.02, the following shall apply: (a) On the day shift tour, unpaid meal breaks will normally fall between 1130 and 1330 hours (for the lunch break) and 1700 and 1815 hours (for the supper break). On the night shift tour, unpaid meal breaks will normally fall between 2330 and 0100 hours (for the first break) and 0400 and 0500 hours (for the second break). (b) The Hospital will take reasonably practical means to ensure that nurses receive their meal breaks during the appropriate time periods and that nurses are permitted to leave the Hospital during such meal breaks.

A duty-free meal break of not less than thirty (30) minutes nor more than one (1) hour shall be allowed approximately midway of each shift. Officers assigned to forty-two (42) hour work schedules shall be allowed to leave the institution while taking meal breaks. 2. Meal breaks, which are not given, shall be reported before the end of the shift. If a Bargaining Unit member does not report the missed meal break, it will be assumed the break was taken. Missed meal breaks will be treated as time worked and will be paid at the applicable rate. When an 84-hour Bargaining Unit Member works a 42-hour shift, the Bargaining Unit Member shall be granted a missed meal break in accordance with the provisions in this paragraph. 3. An additional meal break of thirty (30) minutes shall be allowed when a Bargaining Unit Member works continuously for two (2) hours or more before or after the normal work day, and such additional meal break shall be considered as time worked. 4.
