Merit Bonuses. In addition to the base salary adjustments provided in this Article, the University may, in its sole discretion, award nonrecurring bonus payments to unit members for extraordinary performance far beyond expectations. If the University determines that merit bonuses will be awarded, the xxxx/director shall recommend to the xxxxxxx those unit members whose exemplary performance may warrant a bonus. The xxxxxxx shall then determine the recipients and amounts of merit bonuses. The University may provide up to one percent (1%) of the total base payroll for merit bonuses each fiscal year. The one percent (1%) of the total base payroll will be calculated as of July 1 of each fiscal year. There shall be no merit bonuses during the term of this agreement after December 31, 2016.
15.5.1 Merit Bonus Factors Recommendations and determinations of merit bonuses by the xxxx/director and xxxxxxx for exemplary performance shall consider pertinent factors regarding faculty effort, such as the following: • formal or informal evaluations conducted by department heads/chairs • quality of student evaluations • number and quality of scholarly publications • success in securing externally funded grants, contracts or awards • creativity in artistic works • progress in establishing or developing a research program • high level of instructional effectiveness • quality of service to the university community or to the profession • quality of outreach efforts through distance education • strong and mutually beneficial linkages with business, government, or community partners • other scholarly activity performed at an exemplary level
15.5.2 Limited Merit Bonuses Specifically limited to the term of this agreement, the University may, at its sole discretion and according to factors determined by the xxxx/director, award nonrecurring bonus payments to unit members not to exceed $500, for performance of nonrecurring activities or service to the University. Limited merit bonuses shall not require written justification memoranda. The University shall not be required to provide written notice of limited merit bonuses to United Academics unless specifically requested to do so by the union. Specifically limited to the term of this agreement, United Academics agrees that limited merit bonuses are not subject to dispute under Article 7.

Merit Bonuses. (a) The members of the bargaining unit shall receive a merit bonus based on their 2014-2015 performance review as follows:
i. Employees at the top of the pay scale receiving a performance rating of “Superior Performance” shall receive a one-time lump sum cash bonus, not to be included in the Employee’s annual base salary, in the amount of two percent (2.00%) of their annual base salary for Fiscal Year 2015, to be paid on and retroactive to June 30, 2015. Employees at the top of the pay scale receiving a performance rating of “Competent” shall receive a one-time lump sum cash bonus, not to be included in the Employee’s annual base salary, in the amount of one percent (1.00%) of their annual base salary for Fiscal Year 2015, to be paid on and retroactive to June 30, 2015.
ii. Employees not at the top of the pay scale receiving a performance rating of “Superior Performance” shall move up one (1) step on the pay scale and receive a one-time lump sum cash bonus, not to be included in the Employee’s annual base salary, in the amount of one percent (1.00%) of their annual base salary for Fiscal Year 2015, to be paid on and retroactive to June 30, 2015. Employees not at the top of the pay scale receiving a performance rating of “Competent” shall receive a one-time lump sum cash bonus, not to be included in the Employee’s annual base salary, in the amount of one percent (1.00%) of their annual base salary for Fiscal Year 2015 to be paid on and retroactive to June 30, 2015.
(b) The members of the bargaining unit shall receive a merit increase based on their 2015-2016 performance review as follows:
i. Employees at the top of the pay scale receiving a performance rating of “Superior Performance” shall receive a one-time lump sum cash bonus, not to be included in the Employee’s annual base salary, in the amount of two percent (2.00%) of their annual base salary for Fiscal Year 2016, to be paid on June 30, 2016. Merit Bonuses. Merit bonuses may be provided to the Superintendent based on the Superintendent's achievement of certain qualitative and quantitative criteria. The Superintendent will be eligible to receive up to three (3) quantitative merit bonuses and two
Merit Bonuses. To ensure equity and transparency, salary increases shall be based on the fixed salary grades and steps, as set forth in Sections 1, 5, and 7 and Appendix A. Should Lambda Legal’s financial position allow, as determined in Lambda Legal’s sole discretion, Lambda Legal may award merit bonuses to individual employees whose outstanding performance denotes them as deserving of such recognition. An employee may request a merit bonus one time per year, within the month of May. The most recent performance evaluation will be considered in determining whether to award a merit bonus. Lambda Legal maintains the sole and exclusive discretion to determine when merit bonuses will be considered and to grant or deny a merit bonus request. However, the decision to grant or deny a merit bonus may be subject to the grievance procedure in Article 7 (Grievance) if such determinations violate this Agreement or are motivated in part based on personal protected characteristics as defined in Section 1 of Article 27 (Anti-Harassment Non-Discrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity). To be considered for a merit bonus, the following conditions must be met:
(a) An employee who requests a merit bonus must submit a written request directly to their immediate supervisor with a copy to the department head and the Chief of People and Culture or their designee. The written request must include at least three examples of how the employee was outstanding in the performance of their job duties or made contributions of unique value to Lambda Legal within the previous twelve (12)-month period.
(b) If an employee does not submit a written request for a merit bonus, a supervisor may do so on an employee’s behalf by documenting in writing how the employee was outstanding in the performance of their job duties or made contributions of unique value to Lambda Legal with at least three examples over the previous twelve (12)-month period.
(c) Both the employee’s immediate supervisor and their department head must approve the merit bonus in writing in a Change of Status Request Form. The department head and immediate supervisor submitting this form shall not constitute final approval of the merit bonus.
(d) All recommendations for merit bonuses must be documented as described above and submitted to the Chief of People and Culture or their designee by May 31 each year. Merit Bonuses. The City has the option, but not the obligation, to award the Manager with supplemental, one-time payments in recognition of extraordinary service to the City. The level of service required to qualify for such payments may be established in the City Council’s sole discretion. Any individual supplemental payment shall not result in any precedent nor any expectation of future supplemental payments.
Merit Bonuses. Based upon the fiscal stability of the school, the individual high schools reserve the right to issue a bonus to a teacher or teachers. The school has full and complete discretion over who receives the merit bonus and over the criteria for and the amount of the merit bonus. The president/principal will share criteria for consideration of merit bonuses with the faculty.
Merit Bonuses. (1) The University shall provide a Two Thousand Five Hundred dollar ($2,500) one-time lump sum merit bonus payment to each eligible employee (as defined in Section 23.1A (2)) to be distributed on the effective date (as described in Section 23.1(5)). Such bonus payment shall not be added to the base.
(2) Eligible employees in Section 23.1A(1) are those employees who meet the following criteria:
a. Are employed as ranked faculty, non-ranked faculty, and in-unit administration employees prior to August 7, 2020;
b. Have received no less than a satisfactory evaluation (a minimum score of at least 3.0 on a 5.0 point numerical rating scale) on their most recent annual performance evaluation;
c. Do not have any active performance improvement plans on record; and d. Are actively employed on the date the bonus is paid.
(3) The effective date of the lump sum merit bonus set forth in Section 23.1A shall be as soon as practicable, but no later than four (4) weeks after ratification of the agreement by the University of South Florida Chapter of the United Faculty of Florida
