NONTEACHING DUTIES. 14.1 The following teachers shall be relieved of nonteaching duties:

NONTEACHING DUTIES. A. The Board and the Association agree that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energies, should, to the extent possible, be utilized to this end.
B. To achieve this goal, teachers shall not be required to do office work, or Custodial work, except in emergencies.

NONTEACHING DUTIES. A. The Committee and the Organization recognize that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energies should, to the extent possible, be utilized to this end. It is further acknowledged by the Organization that the position of teacher entails functions and responsibilities beyond that of the classroom. It is further recognized that the maintenance of good discipline and the creation of a good learning and campus environment is a responsibility of teacher, administrator and the School Committee. The Organization acknowledges the responsibilities of the faculty to continue those duties they now perform outside of the classroom.
B. Teachers will not be required to perform the following duties:
1. Health services such as administering eye and ear examinations and weighing and measuring pupils. Any exception to this would be, for example, when the weighing and measuring of pupils is a fundamental part of classroom activity such as in a physical fitness program in physical education.
2. Collecting money from students.
3. Handling clerical aspects or except for required input sheets.
4. Keeping cumulative record cards.
C. Teachers may be required to perform only the following duties and only during the scheduled work day.
NONTEACHING DUTIES. The COMMITTEE and the ASSOCIATION acknowledge that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energies should, to the extent possible, be utilized to that end.
A. When it becomes necessary to schedule bus duty, cafeteria duty or recess duty during those periods contiguous to lunch periods, such assignments shall not be made during time periods beyond the teacher’s regular work day, as defined in Article III. When assigned to such duty during the regularly scheduled workday, as defined in Article III, such assignment shall be on a fair and equitable basis.
B. In no case shall teachers be required to perform on-site supervision during the regularly scheduled morning and afternoon recess periods in the elementary schools.
C. Beyond the provisions of A and B, teachers shall not be required to expend time and energy in other non-teaching assignments including, but not limited to, the following:
1. Except for school nurses, health services, such as administering eye or ear examinations and weighing pupils.
2. Collecting money from students for non-educational purposes. Although teachers may be required to collect and to transmit money to be used for educational purposes, they shall not be required to tabulate or to account for such money.
3. With the exception of duplicating instructional materials, preparing report cards, or master grade lists, entering essential information into the cumulative records, entering student attendance, and/or information into the computer, teachers shall not be responsible for clerical functions.
D. In order to ensure that teachers do not expend time and energy on those non-instructional functions, teacher duty-aides will be provided for the elementary and middle school levels.
E. All achievement and intelligence tests which are machine scorable shall be so scored.
F. Teachers shall not be required to drive pupils to activities which take place away from the school building. Teachers may do so voluntarily, however, with the advance approval of their principal or immediate supervisor.
G. When teachers are absent, the administration will make every reasonable effort to secure a substitute. If a substitute is not available teachers may be reassigned from supervisory duties to cover a class. If it still becomes necessary to secure additional teachers for coverage, teachers with a preparation period may be asked.
H. Teachers shall not be responsible for keeping registers.

NONTEACHING DUTIES. A. Teachers' duty of a secretarial and administrative nature shall remain substantially the same for the l991-94 school years as for the 1987-91 school years. However, teachers will perform any new such duties if assigned them but may refer the matter to the Superintendent's Advisory Council which shall make a recommendation to the Board on whether such new duties shall be continued. The decision of the Board shall be final.
B. If an administrator is absent for two (2) consecutive days or more and a teacher is asked to perform said administrator's duties, a substitute teacher shall be called in to replace the teacher while the teacher is substituting for the administrator. The teacher performing administrative duties shall be provided the same protections normally provided to the administrator. If a teacher takes such an assignment, said teacher will receive forty dollars ($40.00) per day for each day serving in such capacity.
NONTEACHING DUTIES. 10-1 The District and the principals shall make every effort to keep nonteaching duties to a minimum. When non-teaching duties are assigned, they will be assigned in an equitable manner.
10-2 The building principals shall make every effort to assign nonteaching duties in a manner mutually acceptable to the teachers and the District.
10-3 Teachers working such after-school duties as ticket taking, score keeping, clock running, etc., at games or other athletic events shall be paid according to Appendix F. Attendance at regular meetings of parent-teacher organizations is a matter for determination by the teacher.
NONTEACHING DUTIES. 30.01 Bargaining unit members shall be assigned the following duties in a uniform and equitable manner:
A. Supervision of playgrounds, cafeterias, corridors, sidewalks, buses, study halls, restroom duty, and hall duty.
B. Elementary school teachers will not be responsible for the collection of lunch money.
C. Bargaining unit members will not be responsible for collecting activity fee.
NONTEACHING DUTIES. Teachers will not be required to perform the following nonprofessional assignments including, but not limited to, milk distribution and collecting of lunch money from students, restroom duty or custodial functions. This section, however, shall not be construed to preclude bargaining unit members assisting the school administrators in normal or routine supervision.

10:2 The Board agrees to continue its present policy of not requiring teachers to perform the following duties:
a. The following nonprofessional assignments: handling or inventorying of books, except in their respective classrooms and keeping registers.
10:3 The Board agrees to have machine scored those standardized tests which are administered to a group.
10:4 The Board shall maintain the present practice of not requiring the teachers to count collected money.
10:5 Teachers shall not be required to drive students to activities which take place away from the school building.
