OFF SHIFTS. The Company may operate off-shifts in any or all departments if necessary to comply with work requirements, and will compensate any employees engaged in such off-shifts by the payment of an off-shift premium in the amount of one dollar and twenty cents ($1.20) per hour per shift. Such a pre- mium shall be included in the hourly rate for the calculations of overtime.

OFF SHIFTS. Employees must give the hospital at least (24) hours notice of their intention to book off a shift, subject to the approval of the Hospital, considering patient care and the efficiency or illness. Otherwise an employee shall be liable for deduction from his pay of an amount equal to any premium pay necessarily paid to an employ- ee who replaces him. Employees may exchange shifts with hours notice by agreement of both employees and their supervisor or designate. Such approval shall not be unreasonablywithheld. Employees are not permitted to give away shifts. The Hospital to use its best efforts consistent with prop- er management of the Hospital to ensure that days will be taken consecutively and days off rotated so as to effect an equal distribu- tion throughout the employees. The daily working hours shall be seven and one-half (7 112) consecutive hours per day. Employees must report to their respective supervisors in uniform and remain in uniform for the full working shift. In no instance will an employee be required to work more than seven (7) consecutive days without receiving a day off. Authorized time worked in excess of seven and one-half (7 112) hours in one day will be counted as overtime worked with the under- standing for employees in the nursing service, a period of not more than minutes necessary to finish assigned work on an irregular basis shall be deemed as "tag end". Call-in Shifts Part-time employees are to be scheduled equitably in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement. When ail part-time employees in a department have their minimum requirement of hours, hours (12 hour unit) or hours (8 hour unit) in a two-week period, additional available hours will be offered to the most senior part-time until their maximum of hours per two-week period has been accrued and so on down the list of part-time staff in the department. In areas where cross-pools exist (i.e. Emergency, Triage and Patient Registration) staff will be considered for addition- al regular shifts from the other pools before overtime is used. Reassignment of tasks or location is to be considered prior to using overtime.
OFF SHIFTS. Each employee working a shift other than a normal day as defined in Section 12 shall receive additional compensation at the rate of 12%.

  • Broken Shifts (a) An employee may agree to work broken shifts at any time; however an employee may be required to work broken shifts in the following circumstances: (i) in homecare; or (ii) in an emergency – including staff absence; or (iii) up to and including a 4 week continuous period for circumstances other than those covered by subclauses 14.4(a)(i) and (ii). (A) Where an employee has served a period of broken shifts in accordance with subclause (iii) the employee shall not be required to serve a further period on broken shifts until he or she has been off broken shifts for a period equivalent to the previous period on broken shifts. (b) A “broken shift” for the purposes of this sub-clause means a single shift worked by an employee that includes one or more breaks in excess of that provided for meal breaks, where the time between the commencement and termination of the broken shift shall not exceed 12 hours. (c) An employee must receive a minimum break of 10 hours between broken shifts rostered on successive days. (d) Where broken shifts are worked, employees shall receive the per shift allowance set out in Item 1 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (e) Payment for a broken shift shall be at ordinary pay with penalty rates and shift allowances in accordance with Clause 18 - Shift and Weekend Work, with shift allowances being determined by the commencing time of the broken shift. (f) All work performed beyond the maximum span of 12 hours for a broken shift will be paid at double ordinary pay.

  • Shifts In the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, the Agency may schedule nursing personnel on a rotational shift basis for a temporary period during the opening of new facilities. The Agency shall not schedule any employee to rotate more than two (2) different shifts in any four (4) week scheduling period. Exceptions may be mutually agreed to by the parties. In the other Agencies, shifts shall not be rotated unless mutually agreed to by the parties.

  • Hour Shifts When the Employer deems it necessary to implement a twelve (12) hour work day, affected employees shall be notified pursuant to Clause 14.05. The following Clauses shall be replaced or added to the Collective Agreement where appropriate.

  • Day Shift The standard work day will consist of eight (8) hours worked between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with a designated thirty (30) minute lunch period. Starting and stopping times to be determined by mutual agreement between the Company and the shop employees.

  • Time Off Between Shifts Failure to provide the minimum number of hours between the commencement of an employee's scheduled shift and the commencement of such employee's next scheduled shift shall result in payment of one and one-half (1½) times the employee's regular straight time hourly rate for only those hours which reduce the minimum hour period. Where the minimum period is reduced as a result of an approved change of shift(s) requested by the employee(s), such premium payment shall not apply. The minimum number of hours for purposes of this Article shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.

  • Work Shifts Employees shall be scheduled to work on regular work shifts having regular starting and quitting times. Except for emergencies (see Section D), employees' work schedules shall not be changed without written notice to the employee at least five (5) working days prior to the date the change is to be effective. Irregular work schedules shall not be changed without written notice to the employee at least ten

  • Split Shifts No shift shall be split for a period longer than the regularly scheduled meal and rest periods as provided for in Article 14.08.

  • Hour Shift An eight (8) hour tour shall be inclusive of an unpaid one-half (1/2) hour meal period, and two fifteen (15) minute paid relief periods.

  • Shift Hours All shifts assigned by the Employer must conform with the following guidelines: (a) Four (4) hour shifts will be the minimum shift permitted in any one (1) day. (b) Shifts of 5, 6, 7 or 8 hours may be assigned, subject to the provisions of 10.05. (c) All hours worked up to and including eight (8) hours in any one (1) day will be paid at the straight time rate.

  • Shiftwork (A) Where the Employee would have received shift loadings had the Employee not been on leave during the relevant period and such loadings would have entitled the Employee to a greater amount than a loading of 17.5% of the payment under clause 23.1(c), then the shift loadings must be added to the payment under clause 23.1(c)(i) instead of the 17.5% loading. (B) Provided further that if the shift allowance would have entitled the Employee to a lesser amount than the loading of 17.5% then such loading of 17.5% shall be used for the purpose of calculating annual leave loading in lieu of the shift allowance.
