Organization Leave. 10.1 A professional staff member may apply to the Superintendent of schools for leave to serve an organization of his/her choice. The approval or denial of such leave and the terms under which such leave will be granted are matters within the discretion of the Board.
Organization Leave a. A unit member's election as an officer or member of the executive board of the Union or appointment to act on Union business shall be considered a good and sufficient reason for a leave of absence.
b. Any unit member elected or appointed to a full-time position in the Union shall be given a leave of absence for the duration of his/her term of office, which period may be extended upon official written request from the Union.
c. Upon return from such leave of absence, the unit member shall be reinstated without loss of seniority at the current rate of pay or any other benefits entitled to, but not during the period of absence except as stated elsewhere in policies or regulations.
d. Union representatives [not to exceed four (4)] will be granted reasonable release time upon timely request for union related business. Cost of the substitutes will be paid by AFSCME upon request.

1. Definition: A teacher who is elected and/or appointed to an executive position in AHEM at the local, state and/or national level shall be granted a leave under the conditions specified in MS 179A.07, Subdivision 6. Benefits under Article XV, Section 3, Subd. 3 shall apply.

Unit members who are official delegates to Union conferences and conventions shall be allowed up to five days’ leave with pay per year for the purpose of attending such conferences and conventions, provided the Union reimburses the District for the cost of the substitute, if any.
ARTICLE VIII EVALUATION PROCEDURES
SECTION 1 - Time of Evaluation Unit members shall be formally evaluated at regular intervals:
1.1 Probationary employees shall be evaluated prior to the end of the six-month probationary period.
1.1.1 Upon written mutual agreement by supervisor and employee, the probationary period may be extended by four months provided the employee received an evaluation before the end of the fourth month of their probationary period. A subsequent evaluation will be completed at the midpoint of the extension period.

Organization Leave. The Association shall be provided with a total of 1,000 hours of employee organizational leave credit during each year of this Agreement to be used for the purpose of attending executive board meetings, internal Association committees, Association meetings, and implementation and enforcement of this Agreement. Whenever practicable, advance written notice of the names of employees to be released shall be given to the designated Employer representative at least two days prior to the date work schedules must be posted, in order to arrange for time off and scheduling. The allocation of such released time to individuals shall be the sole prerogative of the Association. Any executive board member may utilize annual leave (vacation) or compensatory time for Association meetings and shall not be denied such leave for such purpose except in emergencies, after having given advance written notice, whenever practicable, at least two days prior to the date work schedules must be posted. Employee organization leave shall be released time without charge to annual leave or compensatory time credits, except as provided in the preceding paragraph. Employee organization leave provided for in this Article shall be granted provided that it has been requested with advance written notice, as set forth above, and that the resulting absence from work will not impair or interfere with any emergency services of the Department. The Department shall send to the Association a statement at the end of each month showing the total employee organizational leave used pursuant to this Article. This statement shall be presumed correct unless the Association immediately advises the Director or his or her designee of any claimed errors.
Organization Leave. Upon written request by the President of the Organization and the approval of the Superintendent, not more than four (4) days leave per year will be granted for Organization business. Two (2) additional leave days will be granted for use by the PCSSO President. Time spent by Organization officers in meetings with the Superintendent or designee for purposes of contract administration during the officer's regular work time shall be with pay and shall not be charged as Organization leave. The Organization will pay the District at the substitute daily rate for these days. The District will pay appropriate PERS contributions, workers' compensation insurance premiums, and health insurance premiums for the number of days used under this leave provision.
