Union Conferences and Conventions. Personal business days may be used for attendance at union conferences and/or conventions.
Union Conferences and Conventions. Unit employees selected by the Union shall be granted leave without pay to participate in Union-called state or national conferences, conventions or educational classes provided that:
1. The Union shall give the Employer seven (7) days written advance notice naming each employee.
2. The number of named employees shall not exceed one (1) for each craft.
3. Such leave shall not exceed twenty (20) working days per contract year, per craft.
4. The absence of a named employee will not be unreasonably detrimental to the operation of municipal government. Employees granted leave under this section may, at their individual option, choose to use vacation or other compensatory time due them for this purpose. This provision shall not be considered a bar to granting longer leaves of absence without pay for Union activity.

An Employee elected or named by the Union to attend education sessions or to exercise other Union business, will be given, for this purpose, a leave of absence without pay for the required time. Such delegates cannot include more than (3) Employees, not more than two employees at a time an only one of which may be a Xxxxx operator. The accumulated leave, excluding negotiations, will not exceed 20 working days per year per person and no single leave will be longer than two (2) weeks. Duly elected Union delegates not to exceed five (5) delegates shall be granted time off without pay but time off not to exceed five (5) working days to attend the annual convention, the annual officers and stewards meeting of the Wisconsin Council #40 of County and Municipal Employees Union, the biennial convention of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO. The total of such time off without pay shall not exceed ten (10) days for any delegate.
b. The Union shall give the Employer as much advance notice as possible, but at least ten (10) days, of delegates who will be attending which Union conferences and conventions. The Employer may deny a specific employee's participation due to emergency or unusual conditions and may designate that an alternate candidate be selected by the Union.

Leave granted under this section shall not break seniority.

Upon five (5) school days prior notice to the Superintendent, the Xxxxx Council Officers shall be entitled to up to a total annual Union allotment of two (2) days of paid release time to attend Union-sponsored conferences and conventions or other Union-related workshops.
