Union Conferences and Conventions. An Employee elected or named by the Union to attend education sessions or to exercise other Union business, will be given, for this purpose, a leave of absence without pay for the required time. Union Conferences and Conventions. Upon five (5) school days prior notice to the Superintendent, the Xxxxx Council Officers shall be entitled to up to a total annual Union allotment of two (2) days of paid release time to attend Union-sponsored conferences and conventions or other Union-related workshops. The Union officers shall provide written verification of attendance at such events to the Superintendent. The Union shall reimburse the District for the cost of any substitute teachers who are assigned to work on either of the two (2) Union release days.
Union Conferences and Conventions. Duly elected Union delegates or alternates to the annual convention and the annual officers and stewards meeting of the Wisconsin Council of County and Municipal Employees Union (Council No. 40), and the biennial convention of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, shall be granted time off without pay for the purpose of participating in such conventions but not to exceed seven (7) working days for each such convention. The total of such time off without pay shall not exceed twelve (12) days per year for any single employee. The total number of Union members so elected who shall have such right to be absent shall not exceed one per each fifty or fraction thereof, of bargaining unit members. Such time off may be charged to vacation credits, holidays, time off due or other compensatory time off due to the employee, at the employee's option. When such time off is taken with pay, such time shall not be counted as part of the twelve (12) days per year without pay. The Union shall give the Employer as much advance notice as possible but at least ten (10) days, of who will be attending such Union functions. The employer may deny a specific employee's participation due to emergency or unusual conditions and may designate that an alternate candidate be selected by the Union.
