Personal Absence Days. Each full-time teacher will be credited with twelve (12) personal absence days per year (earned monthly). The twelve (12) days will be posted and shall be available for use at the beginning of each school year. Personal absence days may be used for the following reasons: • Employee’s own personal illness or physical disability. • Personal business (as stipulated in Section FPersonal Business Days). All personal business day requests shall be accompanied by a reason and approved by the employee’s supervisor. • Serious illness or quarantine of an immediate family member/legal dependent. (Immediate family shall include spouse, child, parent, stepchild, or stepparent). • Emergencies (i.e., unexpected injury to family member, home problem requiring immediate attention). • Hospitalization. • Legal matter/Court (non-school related). Personal absence will be limited to no more than twelve (12) days per year (except for employee’s own personal illness or illness of an immediate family member, which are limited to employee’s personal sick leave bank and/or master sick bank as applicable). Immediate family shall include spouse, child, or parent, and corresponding “step” relatives. In situations where there may be patterns of abuse (Excessive absences on Friday/Monday, absences on days preceding or succeeding a break during the school calendar, etc.), the district reserves the right to request appropriate documentation to substantiate the leave. 1. Teachers employed less than full time or after the school year begins shall be credited with personal absence days on a prorated basis equivalent to one point two (1.2) day per month, to the maximum of twelve (12) personal absence days per year. Teachers employed in extended year (12 month) programs, shall be credited with personal absence days on a prorated basis equivalent to one point four (1.4) days per month, to the maximum of fourteen (14) personal absence days per year. 2. Teachers who are credited with their annual personal absence allowance as described above, but who subsequently terminate their employment prior to the end of their school year shall have their accumulated personal absence days reduced in proportion to the part of their school year actually worked. 3. The unused portion of the yearly allotted personal absence days (12) will accumulate to a maximum of 90 days. Personal Absence Days. A total of not more than two (2) days per year 19 deductible from sick leave may be used for personal absence. Personal days may be 20 used by employees for any reason provided the days off are previously approved with 21 the employee's immediate supervisor or the supervisor is promptly notified in the event 22 the days must be used for an unexpected circumstance. 24 The use of personal absence days does not affect eligibility for absences under Part III, 25 Section G(4)(j), school activities.   • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / xxxxx's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). Part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata benefit. Paid personal / carer's leave is cumulative. 7.3.2 All accrued personal leave shall be available for use as carer's leave in accordance with the provisions outlined below. 7.3.3 As part of its commitment to provide a family-friendly workplace, the employer will allow employees to use any amount of accrued personal /xxxxx's leave to enable employees to: (a) provide primary care to partners, children and/or other household or family members. (b) attend the funerals of family or household members or close family relatives (if compassionate leave is not available in the circumstances). 7.3.4 The leave provided for in this clause will be granted subject to the following: (a) The employee must notify the employer of the reason and likely duration of the absence before 7.00 am on the first day of the absence, unless this is not possible due to an unexpected emergency in which case the employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable. (b) Where circumstances permit, an employee must endeavour to arrange leave to minimise the impact on operational needs. (c) The provision of appropriate documentary evidence. 1. For sick leave, a medical certificate or if not reasonably practicable to provide a medical certificate- a statutory declaration made by the employee. 2. For xxxxx's leave, a medical certificate in respect to the family or household member, or a statutory declaration by the employee. 3. For compassionate leave, any evidence that the employer reasonably requires. 7.3.5 The employee is not entitled to take more than 10 days of paid xxxxx’s leave (1/26th of the nominal hours worked by the employee) per year, regardless of the amount of personal leave the employee has accumulated over time. 7.3.6 An employee may request to cash out any amount of paid personal/xxxxx’s leave that they have accrued that is excess of 3/52 of the number of nominal hours worked over the past 12 months. For example, an employee working 38 hours per week over 12 months must retain 15 days of paid personal/carer’s leave and may cash out any further personal/carer’s leave that has been accumulated. 7.3.7 In addition to the above, a request to cash out personal/xxxxx’s leave will only be granted where: (a) the employee elects to cash out their leave in writing; and (b) the employer agrees. 7.3.8 Casual Employees engaged in continuous service shall be entitled to personal leave limited to the provision of sub clause 7.3.

  • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

  • Personal Leave Days Section 1. All employees after completion of six (6) months of service shall be entitled to receive personal leave days in the following manner: (A) All full time employees shall be entitled to twenty-four (24) hours of personal leave with pay each fiscal year; (B) Part-time, seasonal, and job share employees shall be granted such leave in a prorated amount of twenty-four (24) hours based on the same percentage or fraction of month they are hired to work, or as subsequently formally modified, provided it is anticipated that they will work 1,040 hours during the fiscal year; Section 2. Should any employee fail to work 1,040 hours for the fiscal year, the value of personal leave time used may be recovered from the employee. Section 3. Personal leave shall not be cumulative from year to year nor is any unused leave compensable in any other manner. Section 4. Such leave may be used by an employee for any purpose he/she desires and may be taken at times mutually agreeable to the university and the employee.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
