The Promotional Pay Increases clause establishes the terms under which an employee’s salary is adjusted upward following a promotion. Typically, this clause outlines the percentage or amount of increase, the timing of the adjustment, and any eligibility requirements, such as satisfactory performance or completion of a probationary period. Its core function is to ensure transparency and consistency in compensation practices when employees assume higher-level roles, thereby motivating career advancement and reducing disputes over pay adjustments.
Promotional Pay Increases. Upon the promotion from Police Officer to the classification of Sergeant through the competitive selection process, an employee shall receive a promotional increase to the pay step in the Sergeant classification which is at least 5.0% greater than the employee’s current rate of pay (including any Police Officer PPP educational incentives included in base pay, corporal assignment pay, and/or specialty pay). Sergeant PPP incentives, if any, will then be added to the resulting step pay rate.
Promotional Pay Increases. Upon promotion, the promoted employee shall be slotted in the Salary Schedule for the position to which the employee is promoted at the step which provides an increase in base rate of pay of at least five percent (5%) per rank, i.e., at least a five percent (5%) increase if promoted one rank and at least a ten percent (10%) increase if promoted two ranks.
Promotional Pay Increases. Employees hired prior to October 1 2011 promoting from Firefighter/EMT to Firefighter Paramedic shall receive the starting Pay for Firefighter Paramedic or be placed in a level within the Firefighter Paramedic Pay Range in which the employee receives a ten (10) percent raise; whichever is greater. Employees hired on or after October 1, 2011, and promoted to Paramedic after May 1, 2015 through September 30, 2017 will be placed in the step 2 Firefighter Paramedic level as identified in Salary Table A. Firefighter EMT to Lieutenant: The employee shall receive the starting Pay for Lieutenant or be placed in a level within the Lieutenant Pay Range in which the employee receives a ten (10) percent raise; whichever is greater. Firefighter Paramedic to Lieutenant: The employee shall receive the starting pay for Lieutenant or be placed in a level within the Lieutenant Pay Range in which the employee receives a ten (10) percent raise; whichever is greater. A Lieutenant assigned as a Rescue Lieutenant or Field Training Officer shall receive an additional five (5) percent add to base salary. This 5% add to base shall only occur so long as the employee remains assigned as a Rescue Lieutenant or Training Officer and is not portable. Lieutenant to Battalion Chief: The employee shall receive starting pay for Battalion Chief or be placed in a level within the Battalion Chief pay range in which the employee receives a ten {10) · percent raise; whichever is greater. Once an employee of any rank has been certified as a Paramedic by the State, the County will provide a minimum of three (3) months training and a minimum of five (5) consecutive shifts of shadowing to complete the Paramedic check-off program. All EMT/Firefighter(s) that have a state of Florida paramedic certification and have completed the training and shadowing programs successfully will be promoted to Paramedic.
Promotional Pay Increases. When an employee is promoted to a classification in a higher pay range, the employee’s base salary shall be increased by fifteen percent (15%) or to the minimum of the pay range whichever is greater. Under no circumstance shall an employee’s base salary exceed the maximum of the pay range as a result of a promotion.
Promotional Pay Increases. 2 Employees promoted to a position in a higher classification, including but not 3 limited to Engineer, Captain, Captain/Investigator, and Master Fire Mechanic will 4 receive a promotional pay increase to the step in the promotion range that is at 5 least ten percent (10 %) higher than their current step before promotion.
