Paramedic Certification. As paramedic certification is a condition of employment, the Employer agrees to pay for the initial paramedic training. All hours involved in gaining initial certification shall be paid at the employee’s normal hourly rate. Once the employee has received such training and fails to receive such certification, the employee has eighteen (18) months to obtain certification at the employee’s own expense (i.e. no wages shall be paid for training nor shall the Employer pay for tuition and supplies). If the employee does not obtain certification within the eighteen (18) months after failure of initial training, such employee shall be subject to termination.
Paramedic Certification. All Fire Fighter Paramedics must maintain “University of Washington” Paramedic certification as outlined in WAC 246-976, as it may hereafter be amended. Additionally, Fire Fighter Paramedics must maintain all necessary “Continuing Medical Education” (CME) requirements consistent with the CME requirements approved by the King County Medical Director and the Director of Paramedic training, as updated (normally bi-annually).
Paramedic Certification. Fire Captains and Engineers are not eligible for the Paramedic compensation. Fire Captains, Engineers and Firefighter-Paramedics are eligible for an A.C.L.S. incentive equal to 2.5% of their base hourly pay rate in lieu of the E.M.T. incentive (applicable only to those employees who have completed their first year of full-time service). All fees and continuing education expenses associated with license maintenance will be reimbursed by the City upon verification of completion of the required training.
Paramedic Certification. 1) The City agrees to pay a cash stipend of Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($450.00) for each year of continuing Paramedic Certification for Safety Firefighter/Paramedics. Such stipend shall be paid on the first pay period following the employee's Certification anniversary each year. 2) The stipend will begin when the employee’s State of California Paramedic License is renewed for the first time as a Firefighter/Paramedic. 3) Such stipend shall be paid on the first pay period following the employee's License certification anniversary each year. 4) Paramedic certification pay shall cease upon promoting into another rank or at the time of termination of employment with the City of Escondido.
Paramedic Certification. The City of Xxxxxxx desires that each applicant and employee already be EMT certified at the Paramedic level. Therefore, as a condition of my initial and continued employment, I agree I am EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certified at the Paramedic level.
Paramedic Certification. Other requests for training at out-of-state locations that cannot be obtained within Washington State shall not be unreasonably denied.
Paramedic Certification. Members may request Department sponsorship to attend paramedic certification training. If the request is approved the course costs (tuition, fees, and books) will be provided in advance. In an effort to create the least operational impact to the Department, the members are expected to attend their classes at one facility and schedule their attendance to the clinicals, where possible, off duty. Any exception to scheduling attendance to training off duty must be approved by the Fire Chief or designee. Prior to receiving sponsorship, the member shall enter into an agreement to reimburse the City if the member leaves employment within four (4) years of becoming a solo-paramedic with the Department or if they are unsuccessful in achieving solo-paramedic status with the Department. Reimbursement will be a prorated amount reflective of the cost of the program they attended. Members sponsored by the Department as outlined above shall maintain their solo-paramedic status with the Department for the same four (4) year period. Exceptions to this provision are at the sole and complete discretion of the Fire Chief.
Paramedic Certification. Section 28.1 All bargaining unit members employed prior to December 31, 2004, shall maintain their current level of certifications in effect as of January 1, 2005. Firefighter II and EMT-B shall be a term and condition of employment. Employees hired prior to December 31, 2004 agree to make a good faith effort to attain paramedic certification upon request by the employee. No discipline will result if the member is unable to attain such certification. Employees shall receive prior approval to attend all courses and seminars from the Fire Chief or designee. Section 28.2 All bargaining unit members hired after November 15, 2004 may be required, as a condition of continued employment, to obtain a State of Ohio Paramedic certification within three (3) years of first enrollment after notification from employer in writing. Such requirement shall be stated to the employee in the offer of employment. Failure to obtain such certification within the prescribed period of time, or failure to maintain the certification once received, shall be sufficient cause for removal. Employees shall receive prior approval to attend all courses and seminars from the Fire Chief or designee. Section 28.3 The Employer shall pay the educational costs (tuition, books, travel and mileage, if applicable) for bargaining unit members to obtain, and maintain, the certifications as set forth above, except that, effective January 1, 2011, the Employer will only pay costs associated with the first test. An employee who fails the initial test shall pay his own expenses. All training required to obtain and/or maintain the certifications will be considered time worked and employees will receive the training rate of pay for all hours worked, except that, effective January 1, 2011, employees who fail the initial test shall be required to attend training and testing on their own time. Section 28.4 Any employee who terminates employment with the City other than through retirement within three (3) years of receiving tuition assistance from the City shall refund all or part of that tuition assistance to the City based on the following scale: 0-1 years after completing course 100% refund due City 1-2 years after completing course 60% refund due City 2-3 years after completing course 30% refund due City
Paramedic Certification. Section 1. It is understood and agreed that maintaining Paramedic certification is a condition of continued employment. Section 2. It is understood and agreed that the Town shall pay all fees and tuitions required for a member to attend courses and remain a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Certified Paramedic. Section 3. In so far as practicable, Paramedic recertification programs and courses will be attended during the regular work week. However, should this not be practicable and should the Fire Chief authorize, an employee shall be paid overtime for those recertification program and course hours that take place outside the regular work week. Section 4. Effective July 1, 2016, employees with a Massachusetts paramedic certification shall be paid a stipend based on the following schedule in bi-weekly increments as part of their base pay. Section 5. All employees must maintain as a condition of employment the following: Massachusetts Driver’s license, Massachusetts Paramedic Certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Provider Certification, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Provider Certification, and AHA (American Heart Association) CPR Certification.
Paramedic Certification. All employees who are certified paramedics on the effective date of this Agreement shall maintain paramedic certification during the course of their employment. In the event an employee is having difficulty getting their paperwork processed at the state level, it is the employee's responsibility to request a three (3) month certification extension until the problem can be resolved. If, after all pending applicable administrative appeals and extensions are exhausted, the paramedic loses certification, this shall be considered just cause for termination. Employees who do not have paramedic certification on the effective date of this Agreement are required to acquire and maintain such certification through an approved institution. Fire Captains appointed prior to December 18, 2000, shall be exempt from the requirement to obtain paramedic certification. All employees hired after the effective date of this Agreement who do not already have paramedic certification must acquire and maintain paramedic certification through an approved institution. Any new employee must acquire paramedic certification during the first three (3) years of employment. Failure to obtain and thereafter maintain such certification shall be just cause for termination. Employees assigned by the Fire Chief or his/her designee to training to obtain paramedic certification or for the maintenance of current EMT or paramedic certification during the employees' working hours will be released from duty without loss of pay. Employees so assigned during the employees' off time will be paid at one and one-half (1-1/2) times employee's normal hourly rate as set out in the appendices herein for all time worked. Recognizing that the City incurs a considerable investment and expense in providing paramedic training to members of the bargaining unit, it is agreed that those individuals who receive paramedic training provided at the expense of the City after their appointment shall be required to reimburse the City for the costs of such training if they do not complete the period of service in accordance with the agreement attached hereto as Appendix C and incorporated herein by reference. This agreement will generally be executed as a condition of appointment of new employees. However, existing employees to whom the agreement has application will also be required to execute and abide by the agreement.
