Specialty Pay.
A. The Employer will pay specialty pay as follows to employees assigned primarily to the following responsibilities:
Specialty Pay. 1) To be eligible for specialty pay as provided herein, the employee must be assigned to a specialty pay assignment by the Chief or the Chief’s designee.
2) Notwithstanding the foregoing, those employees assigned as Staff Fire Captains, Staff Fire Lieutenants, Harbor Master, Fire Fighter Specialists, Fire Battalion Chiefs (40‐hour), Fire Investigators, certified Fire Inspector Specialists, Special Hazards Inspector, Public Assembly Inspector, and Senior Inspector Specialists will receive six percent (6%) over the regular wage for the basic classification.
3) Members assigned as trainers to TAC and Station 2 will receive nine percent (9%) premium pay above the regular wage for the basic classification. This premium will continue for up to six (6) months, even during periods of hiatus between assignments of recruits. During periods of hiatus, members will be assigned a scope of work to be determined by management.
4) Personnel below the rank of Captain assigned as FPDR Liaison, Driver Instructor, Uniform & Equipment Officer, Fire Liaison assigned to BOEC, or Recruiter and work a 40‐hour week will be paid the same rate as Staff Fire Lieutenant.
5) Upon being promoted to a higher line classification, such employees will be placed at the entry rate for the new classification. However, should the promoted employee’s previous rate of pay, including premium pay, be higher than the entry rate for the new promotion class, the employee’s overall salary (base rate plus any applicable premiums) upon promotion shall be set at the lowest step which results in an actual pay increase. The employee will remain at that step until the employee has served sufficient time in grade to be eligible for a pay increase.
6) Fire Lieutenants assigned as an EMS Specialist will be placed on the step in the pay range for EMS Specialist which reflects their time in grade as a Fire Lieutenant. They shall retain their Fire Lieutenant anniversary date for future salary increases while assigned as EMS Specialist. Fire Fighters assigned as an EMS Specialist, will follow the rules for promotion stated above.

Specialty Pay. A. Paramedic Pay
1. Employees who are certified to perform paramedic services and who are assigned by the Authority to perform such services regularly shall be paid— in addition to their regular salary— fifteen (15) percent of their base salary per month, prorated on an hourly basis. Such employees who work an overtime shift as a paramedic to cover a designated paramedic position, due to the absence of the regularly assigned employee, shall also receive paramedic pay on a prorated basis for that overtime shift or portion thereof.
2. Employees who maintain an active paramedic certification and who are assigned to perform paramedic duties intermittently shall receive paramedic pay on a prorated basis for each hour the employee performs paramedic duties.
3. Paramedic pay shall apply to workers’ compensation and be considered as part of the employee's base pay for the earning of other benefits, as provided by law.
B. Bilingual Pay
1. Qualified employees who meet the following criteria shall receive an additional (.5571) dollars per hour (one hundred and thirty-five dollars [$135] per month) for all hours actually paid.
a. An employee must be conversant in one of the pre-designated languages to qualify to receive bilingual pay: • Spanish • Vietnamese • Korean • Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese • American Sign Language
b. Other languages may qualify on a case-by-case basis.
c. The employee must be approved by the Human Resources Director, or their designee, as per SOP HR.01.01 (Procedure for Requesting Bilingual Pay). Furthermore, there shall be no changes to SOP HR
01.01 during the term of this MOU without mutual agreement.
d. The agreed upon testing procedure for achieving the bilingual bonus pay is described in SOP HR.01.01.
e. The Authority utilizes the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale to determine an employee’s ability to communicate in a language by grading proficiency on a scale of 0 to 5. A passing score for bilingual pay is ILR Level 2 (limited working proficiency). Both parties agree that for any language that does not use ILR, the Authority will use an equivalent scale to determine level of proficiency.
f. The testing process will be administered individually, in person, over the phone or web based, and can be retaken after one (1) month if there is a failure.
g. In the event that the OCFA changes the testing provider(s), they will notify the Association, in writing, to meet and discuss the new process and conditions that will be mutually agreed ...
Specialty Pay. A First Class Constable, Sergeant or Staff Sergeant who is assigned to one of the following units, branches or positions as of January 1, 2012 shall be entitled to an annual premium at the rate of two percent (2%) of their base rate effective January 1, 2012 and upon completion of twelve (12) months in the position, an annual premium at the rate of four percent (4%) of their base rate effective January 1, 2013: Detective Constable Detective Sergeant Detective Staff Sergeant Tactics and Rescue Unit Emergency Response Team UCRT/CBRN Response Team-Urban Search and Rescue/Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Canine Handler Traffic Re-constructionist Underwater Search and Recovery Unit Forensic Identification Pilot (Helicopter and Fixed Wing)
Specialty Pay. A member shall receive annual specialty pay at the rate of $500.00 for each Category 1 specialty he or she holds. A member shall receive annual specialty pay at the rate of $1,000 for each Category 2 specialty he or she holds. A member shall receive annual specialty pay at the rate of $1,600.00 for each Category 3 specialty he or she holds.
A. Category 1 specialties shall include the following:
1. School Liaison Officer;
2. Training Instructor;
3. Breath Analyzer;
4. K9 Officer;
Specialty Pay. All employees (officers, sergeants, lieutenants) assigned as an investigator, including the following, shall receive an additional three (3%) percent of their base pay. The City shall pay employees in equal increments, coinciding with the pay periods. The list of employees entitled to receive Specialty pay is as follows: Narcotics/Intelligence Unit Narcotics Squad Street Level Narcotics Squad Intelligence Squad Gang Intelligence Squad Special Operations Squad Vice Squad Fugitive Task Force Squad Polygraph Special Investigations Unit: Child Victim/Sex Squad Domestic Violence Squad Misdemeanor Warrants Squad Prosecutor Liaison CIB Investigators Crime Against Person Crime Against Property Accident Investigation Professional Standards Background Regionals Public Information Officers Deputy Chief Administrative Assistant Crime Analysis Unit All employees, during the time assigned to these duties, shall be paid “Premium Pay” by the City. Such employees shall receive an additional one and one half percent (1.5%) and/or three percent (3%) of the maximum Police Officer’s base pay. The CITY shall pay these employees in equal increments, coinciding with the pay periods as follows: One and one half percent (1.5%)
Specialty Pay. Whenever Clinical Coordinators are assigned to work in specialty areas, three dollars ($3.00) per shift will be added to their regular base hourly rate of pay/salary. These assignments as determined by hospital management shall include, but not be limited to: the Operating Room-Recovery Room, Intensive Care- Coronary Care Unit, Intensive-Intermediate Care Nursery, Maternity Xxxx-Delivery Room, Emergency Room, Pediatrics, or In-Patient Jail.
Specialty Pay. Employees who are certified and designated as bilingual Deputy Sheriffs, field training officers, members of the emergency response unit, honor guard, or CDL drivers, in accordance with procedures published by the Sheriff or his/her designee shall, in addition to the pay rates above, receive the following specialty pay: Field Training Officer/Administrator $250.00/month Bilingual pay $100.00/month Emergency Response Unit $100.00/month Honor Guard $100.00/month CDL Drivers $100.00/month Employees who are eligible for more than one type of specialty pay above shall not receive more than one type of specialty pay and shall receive the highest monthly specialty pay for which they are eligible. Recognizing that the position of K-9 handler requires additional time and investment in the program, a K-9 handler’s shift shall be shortened one (1) hour at the beginning or end of each shift to feed, groom, and otherwise care for their assigned K-9, and shall receive additional compensation of one and one-half (1.5) hours of pay at the K-9 handler’s regular rate of pay for each regular day off. The Sheriff reserves the right to designate additional units as specialty units with specialty pay of up to $100 per month.
Specialty Pay. A. Bilingual Pay
1. Qualified employees who meet the following criteria, shall receive an additional twenty-five (25) cents per hour (approximately forty-three [43] dollars per month) for all hours actually paid:
a. An employee must be conversant in one (1) of the pre-designated languages to qualify to receive bilingual pay: • Spanish • Vietnamese • Korean • American Sign Language
b. Other languages may qualify on a case-by-case basis.
c. The employee must be approved by the Human Resources Director as per Standard Operating Procedures.
2. Bilingual pay shall apply to workers’ compensation and be considered as part of the employee’s base pay for the earning of other benefits as provided by law.
3. A bilingual employee may be called upon to speak or translate a second language at any time, as Authority needs dictate.
4. An employee shall not be eligible to receive bilingual pay for more than one language.
