Public Education Officer. (a) The written exam shall consist of up to 100 multiple choice and fill in the bank questions. (b) The exams, both oral and written, shall be based solely on the Oakville Fire Department’s Public Educator Training Manual. (c) Oral Presentation - The candidates will be informed of the topics to be used in the oral presentation a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the date on which it is to take place. Time limits may be waived by mutual agreement between the parties to this Agreement. The candidate shall choose one of three potential topics for their oral presentation. The oral presentation shall be in the form of a teaching plan and presentation of the teaching plan to an assessment board. An oral presentation shall be no longer than fifteen (15) minutes. (d) Oral exam - The assessment board shall ask a series of questions of the candidate. The answers to the above questions must be able to be cross- referenced in the stated materials. The marking scheme shall ensure that there is only one appropriate answer to each question asked. As part of the oral examination, a series questions will be asked to each candidate. The candidate will be scored as to whether they mentioned all or any of the answers that the selection committee has predetermined to be acceptable (e) The oral presentation shall be done before an assessment board consisting of the Fire Chief or designate and the Deputy Chiefs. (f) Applicants must have eight and one half (8½) years of completed service with the Oakville Fire Department unless there is mutual agreement between the parties to this agreement to lower the requirement. (g) The successful candidate shall be required to complete certification to NFPA Public Educator 1035 Level l and ll.

Public Education Officer. Where there is a permanent vacancy in the position of Public Education Officer which the Village has decided to fill with a lieutenant, the assignment to the Public Education Officer shall be made by the Fire Chief in the following order: 1. First, from among lieutenant(s) who volunteer for such assignment, unless the Fire Chief determines that any such lieutenant has already been assigned or has already served (or is serving) as an understudy for a special assignment and is reasonably expected to be assigned within the next 12 months to that special assignment (i.e., maintenance officer, director of recruit training, TRS director, and any equivalent special assignment in terms of overall duties and responsibilities that may be established in the future). 2. Second, if no one volunteers or if there is an insufficient number of volunteers, the lieutenant(s) with the least departmental seniority, unless the Fire Chief determines that any such lieutenant has already been assigned or has already served (or is serving) as an understudy for a special assignment and is reasonably expected to be assigned within the next 12 months to that special assignment (i.e., maintenance officer, director of recruit training, TRS director, and any equivalent special assignment in terms of overall duties and responsibilities that may be established in the future). Absent voluntary consent and as long as there is a volunteer available or a lieutenant (if more than one, the one with the least departmental seniority) who has not previously been assigned as Public Education Officer and who is available for such assignment, no lieutenant shall be assigned as Public Education Officer for more than three years. While it is normally expected that a lieutenant will serve as Public Education Officer for three years, the Fire Chief retains the right to reassign a lieutenant before the end of the three year period, provided that a lieutenant who is reassigned and who at the time of reassignment had served less than two years as Public Education Officer shall be eligible for reassignment as Public Education Officer to finish his three year assignment. Similarly, the Fire Chief retains the right to temporarily assign a lieutenant as Public Education Officer or to reassign a lieutenant who has volunteered to work as Public Education Officer for more than three years if the Fire Chief determines that such reassignment is necessary. Public Education Officer. All applicants shall have a minimum of seven (7) years full time employment with the Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services with three (3) years experience as a Public Educator, 1st Class. Additionally, all applicants must have requested and successfully completed the following courses/workbooks:  Occupational Health and Safety Training  NFPA Fire Instructor I Course  Company Officer (Workbook)  Fire and Life Safety Educator (Workbook) All applicable courses will be offered a minimum of once annually. A firefighter must be at 1st Class to be eligible to apply for any available course. Testing for these promotions shall involve: a written exam - constituting 25% of the total xxxx an oral presentation - constituting 25% of the total xxxx a practical component – constituting 25% of the total xxxx and an interview - constituting 25% of the total xxxx (2018)

  • Special Education Special education services, related services, and accommodations for students who are eligible under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), or any applicable provisions of state law, shall be provided in accordance with applicable state and federal law, this Agreement and Authorizer rules and policies. The Authorizer is the LEA for purposes of ensuring compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and all other federal and state laws and regulations concerning accommodation of and education of students with disabilities.

  • Employment Relations Education Leave Employment Relations Education Leave will be allowed in accordance with the Employment Relations Act.
