Reasons for Use of Sick Leave. Sick leave days may be used for the following reasons:
a. Personal Illness or injury.
b. Exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to others, as defined by the Ohio Department of Health.
Reasons for Use of Sick Leave. Sick leave may be granted to an employee upon approval of the Employer for the following reasons:
A. Illness or injury of the employee or a member of his immediate family where the employee’s presence is required;
B. Death of a member of his immediate family (sick leave usage limited to a maximum of five (5) working days) except as provided in Article 30, Funeral Leave;
C. Medical, dental, optical examination or treatment of employee or a member of his immediate family which requires the presence of the employee, and which cannot be scheduled during non-working hours;
D. If a member of the immediate family is afflicted with a contagious disease or requires the care and attendance of the employee or who, through exposure to a contagious disease, the presence of the employee at this job would jeopardize the health of others; and
E. Pregnancy and/or childbirth and other conditions related thereto.

Reasons for Use of Sick Leave. When a teacher has used five (5) cumulative sick leave days in a school year, the administrator may inquire of the teacher the reasons for the use of the leave. This discussion may occur each time in which a teacher has used another five (5) cumulative sick leave days in the same school year.
Reasons for Use of Sick Leave. 10.6.3.1 Sick Leave shall be granted for the following reasons:

10.6.3.3 Up to 12 days per year for the illness of a member of the employee’s immediate family (father, mother, sister or brother), or members of the employee’s household (husband, wife, and children) that require the employees’ personal care and attention. Additional time, up to 12 weeks (running concurrently with family medical leave), could be approved by the department head when treatment for an illness, injury or condition which may be expected to be of long duration, has no reasonably predictable date of termination and requires continuous or intermittent care by the employee.
10.6.3.4 Enforced quarantine of the employee in accordance with Health Department regulations.
10.6.3.5 Medical, dental, and optical appointments.
10.6.3.6 Personal Business not to exceed forty (40) hours during any one (1) year. “Personal business” means those items of personal business that can only be taken care of during regular working hours of the employee. Personal Business Leave shall be approved or disapproved by the department head in accordance with this section. Departments are to use the earning code PB for this purpose. Personal Business Leave shall be debited against the employee’s Sick Leave balance but Sick Leave taken as Personal Business Leave shall not be taken into consideration for the purposes of the Sick Leave Cash-In program or with regard to employee performance evaluations.

D. A member of the immediate family is afflicted with a contagious disease and, due to exposure to the contagious disease, the presence of the employee at his job would jeopardized the health of others.

F. In regard to paternity leave, an employee whose child is born may take up to forty

Sick leave shall be granted, upon approval of the Department Head or his designee, for the following reasons: (a) employee’s illness or injury; (b) employee’s medical, dental, or optical treatment which is necessary during working hours; and (c) illness or injury of the employee’s spouse, children (including xxxxxx and stepchildren) under 18 years of age, and parents. Parents shall be defined as in the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (29 U.S.C. §§ 2601, et seq.). Employees may not use any sick leave for sickness or injury sustained while engaged in outside employment. Sick leave may not be used for any purposes other than those defined herein. The smallest amount of time that may be charged against sick leave is 1/10th of an hour.
