SHORT TERM PARENTAL LEAVE a. A parental leave (inclusive of adoption leave), shall be granted upon request: i. as provided for in Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c.113 with amendments, or 7.a. i so that the return to duty will coincide with the earlier of the following term or semester, or the spring break. b. In the case of adoption, paid leave of two (2) days shall be granted to either parent, or both, if both are employees of the Board, for mandatory interview and travelling time to receive the child.

SHORT TERM PARENTAL LEAVE. 1. A parental leave shall be granted as provided for in Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act. 2. The Board may grant leave-of-absence for a stated period of time so that the return to duty will coincide with the commencement of the following term or semester or following the Spring break period.

In the case of adoption, Short Term Parental Leave shall be granted upon request. All the provisions of this section shall apply including all rights guaranteed under the Employment Standards Act. 4. A teacher returning from Short Term Parental Leave shall be entitled to security of employment and return to the same position or, if it no longer exists, to a comparable position.

SHORT TERM PARENTAL LEAVE. 25.03.01 A Short-term Parental Leave means leave taken for the purposes of caring for or adopting a child. This leave shall be equivalent to "Parental Leave" as defined in subsection 36(1) of the Employment Standards Act Part XI. 25.03.02 A Member/Employee who had been employed by the Board for at least thirteen (13) weeks and who is the parent of a child is entitled to Short-term Parental Leave following: (i) the birth of a child, or (ii) the coming of the child into custody, care and control of a parent for the first time. 25.03.03 Short-term Parental Leave may begin no more than thirty-five (35) weeks after the day the child is born or comes into the custody, care and control of the Member/Employee for the first time with the exception as noted in 25.03.06. 25.03.04 For a Member/Employee who has taken pregnancy leave, Short-term Parental Leave must begin when the pregnancy leave ends unless the child has not yet come into the custody, care and control of the employee for the first time. 25.03.05 The Member/Employee must give the Board at least two (2) weeks written notice of the date the Short-term Parental Leave is to begin, with the exception as noted in 25.03.06. 25.03.06 In the event that the child comes into custody, care and control of the Member/Employee for the first time sooner than expected, the Short-term Parental Leave begins the day the Member/Employee stops working. The Member/Employee must give the Board written notice of the wish to take Short-term Parental Leave within two (2) weeks of stopping work. 25.03.07 Short-term Parental Leave ends thirty-five (35) weeks after it began or on an earlier day if the Member/Employee gives the Employer at least four (4) weeks written notice of that day.
SHORT TERM PARENTAL LEAVE. A Short-term
SHORT TERM PARENTAL LEAVE leave (inclusive of adoption leave) shall be granted upon request as provided for in Part 7 of the Employment Standards Act. (See Appendix C). In addition to the maximum period of leave provided for in Article 12.6.1, extended maternity leave without pay commencing with the expiry of maternity leave provided for in Article 12.6.1 will be granted, on application by the employee no later than six (6) weeks prior to the end of this leave, so that the return to duty will coincide with the resumption of school after the Christmas break or spring break, or in the case of a teacher on leave from a semestered school after the semester break, or with the end of but not later than the current school year. In addition to the leave granted under (a) above, a further continuing period of maternity leave without pay will be granted for one (1) or two (2) school years, providing that application in writing to the superintendent of schools is received by March 1st for the continuation of maternity leave for the following school year. The return to duty will coincide with the resumption of the school year or Christmas break or in the case of a semestered school after the semester break.
