Sick leave accrual for employees in the full year program shall be on a payroll year basis at the rate of 0.0385 times the number of hours worked, calculated in a manner consistent with the current Agency payroll system. Employees in the traditional program may use Paid Time Off as described in Article 16, Section 3 for the purpose of sick leave. Temporary employees shall not accrue sick leave. Section 2. Unused sick leave benefits accumulate from year to year up to a maximum of 160 hours. Sick leave is not a vested benefit. No unused sick leave shall be paid upon termination or quitting. Section 3. An employee who calls in sick shall be required to use accrued sick leave for that period of illness, and shall follow the Agency Personnel Policies and the P&P Manual.

Attendance Bonus Employees who have perfect attendance for each quarter of the calendar shall receive a $65.00 cash incentive award at the end of each quarter. The quarters will begin January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year. One or more full days of absence shall be considered a break in perfect attendance for the quarter, excluding approved vacation, funeral leave, holidays, and pre-approved paid time off (PTO) for vacation or personal reasons. PTO taken for sick leave purposes shall be considered a disqualifier for receiving a perfect attendance bonus. Traditional employees who are laid off during the summer months who have perfect attendance in April, May, and the time they work in June before the summer lay off will qualify for the $65.00 attendance bonus for the April quarter. Section 5. In the event of a death of any member of his or her immediate family, as hereinafter defined, any employee shall be granted a leave of absence, with pay, for a maximum of three (3) days in the Slate of California and four (4) days if the death requires travel outside the State of California. Section 6. For the purpose of this Agreement, the immediate family shall consist of any of the following persons: husband, wife, domestic partner, father, mother, brother, sister, daughter, son, step father, step mother, step brother, step sister, step children, father- in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents or grandchildren. The term "domestic partner" means an unrelated, unmarried adult of the same or opposite sex who has cohabited with an employee for at least six months in an emotionally committed and affectional relationsh...

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay 26.01 For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother, or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner resident with the Employee), child (including child of common-law partner), stepchild or xxxx of the Employee, grandchild, grandparent, spouse’s parents or any relative permanently residing in the Employee's household or with whom the Employee permanently resides. a) When a member of the Employee's immediate family dies, the Employee shall be granted leave with pay for a period up to five (5) days for purposes relating to the bereavement. In addition, they may be granted up to three (3) days' leave for the purpose of travel related to the death. b) An Employee is entitled to one (1) day's bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of their son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, aunt or uncle. c) If, during a period of sick leave, vacation leave or compensatory leave, an Employee is bereaved in circumstances under which they would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under paragraph a) or b) of this clause, the Employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and their sick leave, vacation leave or compensatory leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted. d) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, the Director of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clauses a) and b) above.

  • BEREAVEMENT PAY If an employee suffers a death in the immediate family, he shall be granted compassionate leave of absence with full pay for three (3) days. Immediate family means: spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren. If the employee affected does not attend or arrange services then he shall only be entitled to one (1) day as provided under this Section.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave An employee who is absent from work due to the death of a member of his/her immediate family (spouse, sibling, child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law or domestic partner) may use up to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave each school year.   • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony. (d) An employee shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave without loss of pay to attend the funeral, or if there is no funeral, an equivalent service for his or her aunt or uncle, niece or nephew. Where there is a funeral but the employee cannot attend by reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, the employee shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave without loss of pay to attend an equivalent service within a week following the funeral. (e) An employee will not be eligible to receive payment for any period in which she is receiving any other payments. For example, holiday pay or sick pay. (f) Where it is necessary, with as much notice as possible, the employee may apply for personal leave of absence in addition to bereavement leave. Permission for such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Bereavement A maximum of three (3) days earned sick leave may be used per occurrence for bereavement due to the death of persons in the immediate or extended family, as defined herein, or any relative who resided with the employee.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 18.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer. 18.2 If a bereavement occurs while an employee is absent on annual leave, sick leave on pay, or other special leave on pay, such leave may be interrupted and bereavement leave granted in terms of 18.1 above. This provision will not apply if the employee is on leave without pay. 18.3 In granting time off and for how long, the employer must administer these provisions in a culturally sensitive manner.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Bereavement During Vacation Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 12.

  • Bereavement Days A. All employees may use up to (5) sick days for bereavement days for deaths in the immediate family. Immediate Family is defined as spouse, children, grandchildren, brother, sister, parents, grandparents and parent-in-law, brother/sister-in-law except that a relative living in the same household may, for the purpose of this section, be considered as of the immediate family. Two (2) of the sick days will not be chargeable to the employee's sick day bank. B. All employees may use up to five (5) sick days for illness in the immediate family. The employer may require verification of illness. Immediate family includes spouse and children.
