Sick Leave Days (Compensatory. Sick days for personal illness of non-instructional employees shall be earned at the rate of 1.1 days per month. An employee must have sixteen (16) or more paid days each month in order to be eligible for the 1.1 sick days for that month. No sick leave benefits for new employees will start until the employee completes his probationary period (except health insurance). An annual statement of remaining sick leave days shall be issued to each employee during the month of July each year. One-half (½) of an employee’s annual sick leave will be credited at the beginning of the work year, July 1st. The second half (½) of an employee’s annual sick leave will be credited on January 1st. Sick days shall be prorated upon retirement, termination, or resignation to reflect days used over 1.1 days per month. This shall be deducted from the employee’s final paycheck. Unused sick days shall accumulate following the end of each year, not payable upon demand (must be used as sick leave days). Employees exhausting their current year’s sick leave shall be asked for justification each time they access their accumulated sick leave bank. A sick leave day shall not be granted for the day preceding or the day following holidays or vacations or the first and last days of the work year, unless a doctor’s note is provided. Matters of emergency nature are allowable at the discretion of the superintendent or designee. Hospitalization and group life insurance shall continue to be paid by the Board of Education to cover the extended illness of an employee for a period not to exceed one (1) year following the total use of accumulated sick leave days. Absence occasioned by an emergency illness in the immediate household shall be allowed at full pay as in the case of personal illness and will be deducted from normal sick days. If the employer has reason to believe that sick days are being abused, with prior written notice, employees may be requested by the human resources office to produce a doctor’s statement or substantial evidence that illness was the cause of absence. Twelve (12) month employees may accumulate a total of thirteen (13) sick leave days per year. Ten (10) and ten and one-half (½) month employees may accumulate a total of eleven (11) sick leave days per year. Six (6) hour per diem or less employees may accumulate a total of five (5) sick leave days per year.

  • Sick Leave Days Subject to paragraphs d) i-vi below, permanent full-time Teachers will be allocated eleven (11) sick days at one hundred percent (100%) salary in each school year. Teachers who are less than full-time shall have their sick leave allocation pro-rated.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Sick Leave Donation 10.3.1 A worker may donate days of sick leave to individual District workers who, due to a serious health condition, have exhausted all accumulated sick leave. Donating workers must retain a sixty (60) day balance of sick leave after their donation. No worker may receive more than 40 days of donated leave per year.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Sick Leave Bonus For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.
