Specialist Teachers. The Board, in exercising its right to determine program and curriculum will endeavor to employ, within the limits of finances and personnel acceptable to the District, specialist teachers, such as, but not limited to physical wellness, library/computers, art and music. During the regular school day when the specialist teachers are present and assuming prime responsibility for a class, teachers in the elementary grades will be permitted to use their time for planning and other duties related to their teaching. Elementary specialists will be provided additional prorated per diem compensation for teaching and travel time which exceeds the instructional time of a regular elementary classroom teacher.
Specialist Teachers. Full time teachers not assigned to a regular class are to be on duty at least 7 hours and (30) minutes each day. Teachers on Special Assignment, with administrator approval, may find it necessary to adjust their daily working hours in order to address training opportunities for staff and parents. The instructor will still recognize the 7 hour and 30 minute work day.
Specialist Teachers. Specialist teachers (art, music, nurses, physical education, technology education and special education) shall have preference in inverse order of layoff to fill any vacancy within the bargaining unit that is within the same discipline PK-12. Foreign Language teachers shall have preference in inverse order of layoff to fill any vacancy within the bargaining unit that is within their licensure, PK 12.
Specialist Teachers. 9.01 Specialist instruction will be provided at all grade levels (K-12), which may include but not be limited to the areas of music, art and physical education. Time allocations provided in required special areas shall meet or exceed state standards.
9.02 A minimum of two hundred (200) minutes per week of specialist instruction by certified/licensed specialist teachers shall be provided to students in the areas of music, art, and physical education at grade levels K through 4. When the classes are under the instruction of a specialist teacher, the classroom teacher shall be scheduled for planning, preparation and conference time. For purposes of these time allotments set forth above, A.M. Kindergarten shall receive a maximum of one-hundred (100) minutes per week and P.M. Kindergarten shall receive a maximum of one hundred (100) minutes per week.
A. In addition to the above, the following additional specialist time will be provided at the elementary K through 4 levels for library or other non-required specialist time:
1. Kindergarten: thirty (30) minutes every other week.
2. Grades 1-4: thirty (30) minutes per week.
B. These above-stated minimum specialist times apply to the appropriate grade level at the High Tech Academy (grades 2-4), with the exception that the two hundred (200) minute per week requirement need not be limited to music, art, and physical education for those students.
Specialist Teachers. 1. Specialist teachers are teachers other than classroom teachers. Specialist teachers will be free from pupil instruction or supervision during instruction for minimum of 30 minutes per day and a minimum of 200 minutes per week excluding time for lunch. The period free from instruction does not have to be consecutive block of time.
2. Specialist teachers who travel from room to room for instruction and must transport equipment will be scheduled so that there is a minimum of 10 minutes between any two consecutive classes.
3. Schedules of specialist teachers are to be arranged so the weekly schedule will be divided as evenly as possible among the days of the school week and so the amount of travel is limited to that which is necessary. The time to travel shall be considered when determining teacher's responsibility.
4. Schedules of classroom teachers are to be arranged so the preparation time resulting from the assignments of specialist teachers will be divided as evenly as possible among the days of the school week.
5. The specified schedule arrangements may be modified with the agreement of the affected faculty members and principal.

Specialist Teachers. 8.11.3.7.1 The specialist teacher is responsible under the FCEA teachers’ contract to be at his/her site for work fifteen (15) minutes before and fifteen (15) minutes after the students’ instructional day. Part- time specialist teachers will add fifteen (15) minutes before and after their prorated day.
8.11.3.7.2 Specialist teachers will not be scheduled for any recess/bus supervision duties. Should an emergency situation arise, specialist teachers may be assigned supervision duties on an equitable basis.
8.11.3.7.3 Specialist teachers will have the same number of minutes, not to include transition time, for lunch and recess breaks as the classroom teachers at the site.
8.11.3.7.4 Specialist teachers will coordinate with site administrators to attend an equitable number of staff meetings, non-student in-service days, District in- service days, etc., comparable to regular classroom teachers.
8.11.3.7.5 Specialist teachers who are assigned to YRE schools will work an equivalent number of teacher days as a classroom YRE teacher, with the option of extending up to a total of 228 teaching days. A substitute will be secured if the teacher does not opt to extend his/her contract.
8.11.3.7.6 The specialist teacher is responsible for short-term and long-term planning and lesson planning comparable to classroom teachers.
8.11.3.7.7 When the specialist teacher is absent, substitutes will be secured in the same manner as for a regular classroom teacher. When a full day substitute is secured for a less than full time specialist teacher, the site administrator will assign the substitute teacher responsibilities for a full day of work.
8.11.3.7.8 During assemblies or special programs that interrupt the regular schedule, the specialist teacher is responsible for the students of his/her assigned class at that assembly, etc. The classroom teacher receives prep time.
8.11.3.7.9 The site administrator is responsible for the evaluation of non-traveling specialist teachers. If a specialist teacher teaches at more than one site, those administrators need to determine each year which one is the primary evaluator, with input from the other(s). Each administrator will share the observation portion of the evaluation. Specialists assigned to multiple sites with a district-wide administrator may be evaluated by the administrator.
8.11.3.7.10 Specialists who travel between sites will have fewer classes based on travel time.

When a full-day substitute is secured for a less than full-time specialist teacher, the site administrator will assign the substitute teacher responsibilities for a full day of work.

8.11.2.5.9 All contract language on class size applies to specialist teachers as well.
Specialist Teachers. The Board, in keeping with its past adopted policy, will employ additional specialist teachers, as a yearly inventory and diagnosis would indicate the need. These specialists would include and not be limited to physical education, music, and reading.
Specialist Teachers. Elementary School Teachers shall not be required to remain in their classrooms when specialist Teachers (i.e., art, music, media, fitness education and computer) are in charge of the class.
