Summer Academy. Contractor will provide a “Summer Academy” which will be a quasi-educational program to help students build their confidence and self-esteem so that they will have a better chance of being successful in school and employment. A team teaching model will be employed which utilizes peer counselors, a core instructor, case management services, and guest speaker/mentors.
Summer Academy. Teachers with the District shall be given the first opportunity to fill summer academy positions. Summer Academy. (a) Beginning in the 20092010 school year, appointed teachers working in High Needs Schools shall have home school preference for the Extended Year Program (Summer Academy) the District elects to operate in their home schools. They will be guaranteed employment in their home school for the duration of that Extended Year Program (Summer Academy). Teachers may choose to opt out of the Extended Year Program (Summer Academy) assignment in their home school by no later than April 1st. In the event that this occurs, vacancies in the Extended Year Program (Summer Academy) will be offered to other teachers in accordance with summer program seniority and certification provisions. All Teachers working in the Extended Year Program (Summer Academy) shall be paid at their regular hourly rate. If leveling is required, teachers not regularly appointed to the school shall be leveled pursuant to Summer Program leveling procedures.

Summer Academy. All professional staff must complete eighteen (18) hours of professional development as provided by the Administration. Those hours shall be offered no fewer than two times throughout the summer months. Anyone seeking to use any sick leave during any professional development day may be required to submit a physician’s excuse. Summer Academy schedule shall be reviewed by CDEA Leadership no less than two weeks prior to the distribution to the professional staff.
Summer Academy. All workshops/summer school/summer academy offered by the Board shall be advertised by the superintendent or designee and sent to every school for posting at least ten (10) school days prior to selecting personnel to participate in said workshops. Specific criteria required for participants will be listed in the notice.
