Trial Period for Promoted Employees. A. An employee, who has been promoted to a new position, shall be on trial status for a period not to exceed ninety (90) calendar days. When any position requires that an employee successfully complete a formal training program, the trial period will commence upon successful completion of such program.

Observations and conferences will conform to the following: Unscheduled observations may occur at any time and without prior arrangements. Scheduled observations will be at least thirty (30) minutes in duration. When possible, the supervising administrator will notify the employee in advance so that the employee has an opportunity to request a pre-observation conference. The employee may request a conference with the supervising administrator to discuss what will be happening at the time of the scheduled observation and to provide the supervising administrator with any information that would be helpful in understanding the situation. Post-observation conferences will be mutually scheduled by the supervising administrator and employee within five workdays of the observation. An additional five workdays may occur by request of either party. In the post-observation conference the supervising administrator will identify strengths and weaknesses according to the criteria specified in the evaluation document, and will make specific recommendations for improvements for each weakness identified. Continuing employee timelines and procedures. Supervising administrators will evaluate continuing employees every third year of their employment. Evaluations can occur in shorter duration as needed, in the judgment of the supervising administrator. During the interim years, the employee will participate in self- directed and self-reported professional growth activities. The professional growth procedures defined in Section 4 (Option II) may be used in place of the regular evaluation process when the following two conditions are met: The previous evaluation was satisfactory. The supervising administrator and the employee agree to use the alternative process. Trial Period for Promoted Employees. Employees may be promoted to a higher level in the classification structure and/or remunerated at a higher level on a temporary basis for the purposes of assessing that Employee’s suitability and performance at that level. Such an Employee may be reverted to his/her pre-promotion level in the classification structure where XXXX decides the Employee has been unsuccessful at the higher level based on ACES assessment of suitability and performance. An Employee may also request a return to the Employee’s pre-promotion level in the classification structure without penalty.
