Use of Other Leave. (a) An employee may elect to use annual or long service leave credits for some or all of their absence on defence service, in which case they will be treated in all respects as if on normal paid leave.
(b) The Employer cannot compel an employee to use annual leave or long service leave for the purpose of defence service.
Use of Other Leave. If the request for paid industrial leave is denied, the employee may elect to use accumulated sick leave or accrued vacation time to receive full compensation for the initial twenty-four (24) working hours following the accident or illness. Sec. 1505 FULL SALARY: Upon receipt of temporary disability indemnity under Division 4 or Division 4.5 of the Labor Code, the employee may elect to take as much of his accumulated sick leave or accumulated vacation so as when added to his temporary disability indemnity, it will result in payment to him of his full salary.

Employees shall be permitted to use annual leave and other leave credits to participate in school programs and community events in accordance with the normal requirements for the use of such leave. Additionally, in accordance with this Agreement and to the extent that operational considerations permit, an employee may, with supervisory approval, adjust his/her work schedule to allow attendance or participation in school activities or community events while working the regular number of work hours.

Use of Other Leave. To care for an ill or injured family member, an employee may also take unpaid leave if paid personal/carer’s leave has been exhausted, with the consent of the Director.

Use of Other Leave. To care for an ill or injured family member, a TAFE Manager may also use leave without pay if paid personal carer’s leave has been exhausted with the consent of the General Manager.
Use of Other Leave. An employee must use all accrued sick leave and annual leave before being eligible to use shared leave. An employee is not required to completely deplete their accrued leave balances to apply for shared leave. An employee requesting shared leave due to being called to serve in the armed services need only deplete their annual leave and paid military leave before taking shared leave.
