ACTING RANKS. An employee who is designated by the appropriate supervisor to temporarily perform a major portion of duties of a posit ion in a higher classification than the employee's current classification shall receive a pay increase for the period of time such duties are assigned consistent with University procedures, provided such duties are performed for a period of more than twenty‐two (22) workdays within any six (6) consecutive months.
ACTING RANKS. 21.1 When a member is required to act in a capacity above his/her classification for one-half of the regularly scheduled shift, he/she shall be paid $20.00 per band above his/her classification for each shift so assigned to a maximum of $50.00 per shift.
21.2 Any premium paid pursuant to Article 21 shall be counted as wages for the purposes of calculating overtime and OMERS contributions.
ACTING RANKS. Any employee authorized by the Chief to act in the capacity of a higher rank for a continuous period of more than ten (10) days or a total of twenty (20) days in any one (1) calendar year, shall receive the salary of the higher rank during the time the employee acts in that capacity.
ACTING RANKS. An employee who is designated by the appropriate supervisor to temporarily perform a major portion of duties of a position in a higher classification than the employee's current classification for a period of more than two (2) consecutive work weeks shall receive acting pay in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the employee’s base rate of pay, retroactive to the first date of assignment.
ACTING RANKS. Any employee who is officially designated by the appropriate department authority to act in a rank higher than his permanent rank and actually performs said duties shall receive a one-step increase provided the tenure of service in the acting rank is a minimum of one (1) normal workday.
ACTING RANKS. 19.01 For the sole purpose of filling a temporary vacancy and only so long as such vacancy lasts, the Chief or the Chief's designate may assign a member to perform the duties of any rank above First Class Constable. If a member performs such duties for a total of fifteen (15) or more working days, then the Board agrees to pay the salary of the rank in which the member is performing, commencing at the lowest rate in the salary range. Such temporary vacancy shall be filled by members from the same Division who have qualified under the Promotional Process of the Service. If no such qualified members exist from the same Division, selection of members to fill such vacancies shall be at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police. Permanent vacancies shall be filled forthwith pursuant to the Promotional Process of the Service, and no assignment to acting duty shall circumvent that process.
19.02 Where a member is designated to an acting position and is confirmed within a one (1) year period, and the period acting is not consecutive to that confirmed in the higher rank, then all time served in the acting position, within the one (1) year period shall qualify the member for advancement to the next higher salary rate .

(A) When a member, who is a first class constable and is qualified for promotion, is assigned by the Chief of Police or his designate to assume the next higher rank above his rank, the member shall be paid, in addition to his regular salary, one-hundred (100) percent of the difference between first class constable salary and the salary for the next higher rank for the shift or portion thereof so assigned and worked. The member shall be paid for the time so assigned during each pay period on his pay cheque for the next pay period.
(B) When a member, who is a Sergeant or Staff Sergeant and is qualified for promotion is assigned by the Chief of Police or his designate to assume the next higher rank above his rank, the member shall be paid, in addition to his regular salary, one- hundred (100) percent of the difference between his regular salary and the salary for the next higher rank for each portion of shift so assigned and worked. The member shall be paid for the time so assigned during each pay period on his pay cheque for the next pay period. A Sergeant or Staff Sergeant who has been in his rank for less than one year or is not qualified for promotion shall not be assigned by the Chief of Police or his designate to assume the next higher rank above his rank, except where the exigencies of the Service so require.
(C) No member shall be assigned to assume an acting rank continuously for more than one year without being confirmed in such rank.
(D) Assignments to special projects and/or assignments to other police services, to Joint Force Projects or to the Ontario Police College, shall be the subject of agreement between the parties in each instance in accordance with past practice (it is understood and acknowledged that members on such special assignments are not entitled to confirmation in accordance with Article 22.1(C) in the event such special assignment is longer than one year.)

(B) No uniform member shall be assigned to assume an acting rank continuously for more than one (1) year without being confirmed in such rank.
(C) Assignments to special projects and/or assignments to other police services, to Joint Force Projects or to the Ontario Police College, shall be the subject of agreement between the parties in each instance in accordance with past practice (it is understood and acknowledged that members on such special assignments are not entitled to confirmation in accordance with Article 21.1 (B) in the event such special assignment is longer than one year).
(D) A member assigned as contemplated by 21.1(C) shall be notified no later than 60 days before the end of his or her assignment of the position the member will be returning to at the conclusion of the assignment.
