AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE. A. The Board will comply with its obligations under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). In accordance with the FMLA, a faculty member may be eligible to take up to twelve (12) weeks of leave. If the faculty member has accumulated sick and personal leave, these days will be applied concurrently to any FMLA absences when school is in session. The remainder of the leave not covered by sick or personal days will be unpaid. Faculty members should reference Board Policy 5:185 (Family and Medical Leave located on the District website for details about eligibility and notification requirements.

AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE. Section B. Vacations
AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE. AUTHORIZED ABSENCE is defined as an absence from work because of vacation, temporary lay-off or one of the below described LEAVES OF ABSENCE. UNAUTHORIZED ABSENCE is defined as an absence from work for any other reason than those given in the preceding sentence. A PERSONAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE may be granted if an employee requests it in writing and if the leave is for good reason and does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operation of the plant. A MEDICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE may be granted to an employee who is unable to work because of sickness or injury (not related to the job) for a specified number of days upon written request by the employee and supported by a physician's statement containing the nature of illness and probable length of incapacitation. Request for medical leave must be made to management before the sixth (6th) consecutive work day of absence for consideration as an Authorized Absence. In order to be reinstated for regular employment after a medical leave an employee must present a physician's release to plant management. Pregnancy Leave of Absence will be granted in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Acts and the employee will continue to accrue seniority. AN INDUSTRIAL INJURY LEAVE OF ABSENCE will be granted for sixty (60) days as needed and substantiated by a doctor's statement which defines the probable length of incapacitation. Leave time will be extended if the employee presents to management a statement from the doctor requiring more time for recovery. The employee can return to work by presenting to management a doctor's release. A FUNERAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE will be granted for up to three (3) working days with straight time pay in order to arrange for and/or attend the funeral of a member of the employee's immediate family and can so substantiate the fact. Immediate family is defined as children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, employee's grandparents and spouse's parents. A one (1) day compensated leave will be granted to attend the funeral of the spouse's grandparents, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. UNCOMPENSATED FUNERAL LEAVE may be granted by management to attend the funeral of other family members.

  • Other Leaves of Absence In the event that you are on a bona fide leave of absence, not otherwise described in this definition, from which you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, your Separation from Service has occurred on the first day on which your leave of absence period exceeds six months or, if earlier, upon your termination of employment (provided that such termination of employment constitutes a Separation from Service in accordance with the last sentence of the first paragraph of this definition).

  • Paid Leaves of Absence Paid leaves of absences granted under this Article shall not exceed the employee's normal work schedule.

  • General Leaves of Absence A. Upon written request from the employee and upon approval of the College President, unpaid leave of absence may be granted to any employee for such things as: (a) illness; (b) family emergency; (c) maternity/paternity; (d) adoption; (e) education; and (f) military leave. The terms of the leave of absence will be confirmed in writing by the College.

  • Union Leaves of Absence In support of the Partnership relationship, upon request, the Employer will grant time off to employees for official union business as long as the number of employees absent for union business does not impose an unreasonable burden on the Employer and the Employer receives reasonable notice. Union leaves will be defined according to the following: Short-Term Leaves are defined as leaves up to 30 days. Employees will continue to accrue seniority, service credit and benefits during the time of the absence, at the expense of the Employer. The impact of multiple short-term leaves on the operations must be considered. Long-Term Leaves are defined as leaves of absence for more than 30 days and up to a maximum of one year. Such leaves will be granted by the Employer in increments of three months and shall be jointly reviewed, on a periodic basis, at the regional level. Seniority, service credit, credited service and health, dental and life insurance benefits will continue during the leave as long as the union reimburses Xxxxxx Permanente for the associated costs.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE Article 11 applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.

  • Unpaid Leaves of Absence A. A department head or designee may grant an unpaid leave of absence for a period not to exceed one (1) year. The employee shall provide substantiation to support the employee's request for an unpaid leave of absence.

  • Leaves of Absences 14.01 Written requests for personal leaves of absence without pay for educational or personal reasons will be considered on an individual basis by the nurse’s manager or her designate. Such requests are to be submitted as far in advance as possible with a minimum notice of four (4) weeks except in cases of emergency or if the Employer determines that service needs and staffing requirements can accommodate a leave on shorter notice. A written reply will be given as soon as possible. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Except in unusual circumstances, a leave of absence other than for educational reasons will not be granted until one (1) year’s continuous service has been completed.

  • Medical Leaves of Absence When recommended by an employee's personal physician in writing, a medical leave of absence for a three (3) month period will be granted by the Sheriff. Such leave may be extended for a like three (3) month period or shorter period, within the sole discretion of the Sheriff, up to a maximum of one (1) year. Such extension, if granted, shall be based upon the written certification by the employee's physician that the continued illness or disability precludes the employee from working and the continuation of the leave of absence is necessary. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) months, if granted, will be allowed and credited as continuous county service, i.e. seniority continues for the three (3) months only. The employee shall be entitled to his former position or a position for which he is able and capable of performing upon return to work. A medical leave of absence shall be without pay and other fringe benefits, except an employee may use his accumulated sick leave time and accumulated vacation time to avoid loss of wages during such leave.

  • Personal Leaves of Absence SRD includes the time an employee is on "leave", if the employee is on a: • personal leave of absence with pay; or • personal leave of absence without pay which is less than 15 working days; or • personal leave of absence without pay which is more than 15 working days and which was started on or after April 15, 1993 -- only that portion which was taken during the period from April 15, 1993 to August 31, 1997. • prepaid leave of absence, under the enhanced leaves of absence policy dated April 16, 1993, greater than eight (8) weeks.

  • EXTENDED LEAVES OF ABSENCE 1. Military leave without pay shall be granted to any employee who is inducted in any branch of the armed forces of the United States for the period of said service.
