Evaluation Cycle: Self-Assessment Completing the Self-Assessment The evaluation cycle begins with the Educator completing and submitting to the Primary or Supervising Evaluator a self- assessment by October 1st or within four weeks of the start of their employment at the school. The self-assessment includes: An analysis of evidence of student learning, growth and achievement for students under the Educator’s responsibility. An assessment of practice against each of the four Performance Standards of effective practice using the district’s rubric. Proposed goals to pursue: At least one goal directly related to improving the Educator’s own professional practice. At least one goal directed related to improving student learning. Proposing the goals Educators must consider goals for grade-level, subject-area, department teams, or other groups of Educators who share responsibility for student learning and results, except as provided in (ii) below. Educators may meet with teams to consider establishing team goals. Evaluators may participate in such meetings. For Educators in their first year of practice, the Evaluator or his/her designee will meet with each Educator by October 1st (or within four weeks of the Educator’s first day of employment if the Educator begins employment after September 15th) to assist the Educator in completing the self-assessment and drafting the professional practice and student learning goals which must include induction and mentoring activities. Unless the Evaluator indicates that an Educator in his/her second or third years of practice should continue to address induction and mentoring goals pursuant to 603 CMR 7.12, the Educator may address shared grade level or subject area team goals. Annual Orientation. The Board of Trustees agrees to provide joint training to Educators and Evaluators beginning in August 2013, prior to the implementation of this evaluation system. Furthermore, at the start of each school year, the Superintendent shall arrange school-wide or program-level meetings for Educators and Evaluators focused on Educator Evaluation. The Superintendent and the Federation President shall determine the locations, times, and content of the meetings. At a minimum, the meetings shall:  Provide an overview of the evaluation process, including goal setting and the development of Educator Plans;  Provide all Educators with a copy of the rubrics and forms used to evaluate members of the bargaining unit; and  Provide Educators with the opportunity to ask questions relating to the evaluation system. The parties agree that Evaluator training should be designed to make evaluations as consistent, reliable, and equitable as possible across programs, grades, subjects, and assignments.
Annual Orientation. The District shall provide the Association a mandatory annual orientation for all classified bargaining unit employees not to exceed one (1) hour if the pre-service calendar for employees permits.

  • Orientation The Employer shall provide planned and paid Orientation Programs of such content and duration as it deems appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Employer and the Nurses involved. Such Nurses will not be considered part of core staffing during their Orientation Program nor will they be provided with primary assignments.

  • Training and Orientation (a) No employee shall be required to work on any job or operate any piece of equipment until he/she has received proper training and instruction. (b) The Employer shall provide sufficient and adequate training and/or orientation to any employee working in a new or unfamiliar work area or position.

  • New Employee Orientation The Union will provide each agency personnel director with the names and addresses of up to two (2) authorized Union representatives per agency to receive notice of each formal orientation meeting held by the Department. The notice will be sent as soon as such meetings are scheduled (but not less than ten (10) days in advance) and will include date, time and location. Due to operational exigencies, agencies may schedule an orientation which will provide the Union with less than the requisite ten (10) days' notice; however the Union shall be notified as soon as possible after the scheduling of the orientation and the Union representative shall be released from duty. Agencies shall routinely schedule orientations in a manner that will allow for the ten (10) day advance notice to the Union. During the formal orientation, the Union will be permitted to give a twenty (20) minute presentation which may include an enrollment in supplemental Union benefits. The parties shall encourage employee attendance, although attendance shall not be mandatory if an employee objects to attending the presentation. In the event a formal orientation meeting is not held, or the Union is unable to attend the formal orientation because the designated Union representatives cannot be released under Article 4, the Employer shall allow the Union representative and the employee(s) to meet during duty hours at a mutually agreed upon time and location for twenty (20) minutes Employee participation in these meetings shall be encouraged although an employee shall not be required to attend such a meeting.
