ARTICLE COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. An employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence without loss of pay and no deduction of sick leave credits up to a maximum of five (5) working days within seven (7) consecutive calendar days when grieving a death in the immediate family. The immediate family shall be defined as spouse, son, daughter, father, mother, sister, brother, grandchild and any person who stands in loco parentis. An employee may be granted a leave of absence without loss of pay and no deduction of sick leave credits up to a maximum of three (3) working days when grieving a death of a mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law or grandparent. A leave of absence of a full or partial day without loss of salary may be granted by the Administrator of Human Resources when grieving a death of a person other than those persons named in or Request for such a leave must be submitted to the Administrator of Human Resources or delegate for approval at least one day in advance, if possible. Under unusual circumstances, leave for compassionate reasons may be granted without loss of salary and benefits by the Administrator of Human Resources or delegate. Such a leave shall be deducted from the employee’s sick leave. The discretion and consideration of requests for compassionate leave shall continue to be provided in compliance with the requirements of the Employment Insurance Regulations. In the event of the death of a member of an employee’s immediate family (as defined in occurring while on scheduled vacation, the compassionate leave provision of “1 a)’’ will prevail and the be rescheduled.
ARTICLE COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. An employee shall be granted a compassionate leave of absence of three consecutively scheduled work days with pay upon application to the Employer in the event of a death of a member of the employee’s immediate family. The term immediate family shall mean, parents, step- parents, spouse, common law spouse, child, step-child, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, grandchild,sister-in-law,brother-in-law,daughter-in-xxxxxx son-in-law. It is understood and agreed that a bereaved employee may request and be granted additional time off without pay for the purpose of travel and or other matters related to the estate of the deceased. ARTICLE SALARIES AND PREMIUMS Attached hereto and forming part of this Agreement is Schedule “A” which sets out the classifications of and salaries to be paid to employees. Employees working the afternoon shift or the night shift prior to a normal pay day shall be paid on the completion of such shift. Effective January an employee will be paid a shift premium of cents per hour for each hour worked when the majority of such hours that are worked falls between and hours the following day. A premium of hour will be maintained for employees who as of September possessed a Health Care Aide Certificate but were employed in a classification other than Health Care Aide. The further application of this premium is discontinued as of this date and employees will be paid solely according to the rate in Schedule A for the classification that they occupy.
ARTICLE COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. It is agreed that after an employee has completed his or her probationary period, the employer shall grant three (3) consecutive days leave of absence with pay for the purpose of attending the funeral or making other arrangements on the death of the employee's spouse, parent, child, sister, brother, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law or common-law spouse. One day's leave of absence with pay shall be granted on the death of the employee's grandparent for the purpose of attending the funeral. If a bereavement leave referred to in this Article coincides with vacations or other days on which the employee would not normally work, no payment shall be made by the employer. In the event an employee cannot attend the funeral of any of the relatives described in or the company shall grant one day's leave of absence with Payment shall be made at the employee’s regular straight time hourly wage rate based on the number of normal hours of work the employee would otherwise have worked. The employer reserves the right to request proof of bereavement.
ARTICLE COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. A regular employee shall be entitled to not more than three (3) calendar days leave of absence with pay and not more than fifteen (15) days leave of absence without pay, immediately following the death of his spouse, child, mother, father, sister, or brother. Paid leave of absence shall apply only to regular working days. A regular employee shall be entitled to two days of leave for the purpose of attending the funeral; of his grandfather, grandmother, mother- in-law, father- in- law, or any relative who, until death, resided with the employee unless the funeral falls on a Monday or a Friday, in which case the number of days of paid leave shall be one. The paid leave of absence shall apply only to regular working days. An employee who is entitled to compassionate leave under Sections and during vacation leave shall receive vacation credits equal to the number of days of compassionate leave granted. Provided an employee has not received compassionate leave for the death in question, an employee shall be entitled to compassionate leave up to a maximum of one (1) day without loss of salary for attending a funeral as a pallbearer. An employee shall be entitled to additional compassionate or special leave up to a maximum of two (2) days without loss of salary, requested for the purpose of attending a funeral at a distance of two-hundred (200) kilometres or further, accessible by all weather road.

An employee shall be entitled to one (1) scheduled shift leave to attend the of an employee’s father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, uncle, grandchild or grandparent. ARTICLE COMPASSIONATE LEAVE. An employeewill granted three (3)days bereavement leave with the date of death, without loss of regular pay, in the case of death of the employee's: (as defined in the Family Law Act), child, mother, father, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, guardian, step-parent, grandchild, grandparents, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. For any category of relative not listed in Article an employee can request a leave of absence without pay and such a request will not be unreasonably refused.
