Bilingual Stipend. Bilingual Stipend: A five percent (5%) bilingual stipend is awarded to an employee whose current classification does not require the use of a second language, but the employee uses a second language on the job when the District determines that the language usage is sufficient to qualify for a stipend. Such determination will be based upon the following conditions: 1. The position requires that the employee use bilingual skills regularly to perform their work; and 2. The classification specification for the employee’s classification does not require bilingual skills for all incumbents of that classification; and 3. The employee demonstrates a proficiency in the second language, according to procedures established by the District.

Bilingual Stipend. 6.1.5.1 Effective 7/1/08, a bilingual stipend of $500 per year shall be paid to bargaining unit member(s) selected to regularly perform oral interpreting as required by his/her site. Each stipend position shall be filled pursuant to Article 12.4.d except the selection shall be limited to current site employees. Available stipend positions are as follows and may be expanded due to site and department needs as determined by the District: 6.1.5.2 Bargaining unit member must pass an oral examination to be eligible for selection. He/she will remain eligible for five years. 6.1.5.3 The stipend is an annual stipend. The District may renew the assignment year to year based on site needs, previous job performance and personnel needs of the District.
Bilingual Stipend. Unit members who are directed by the manager or supervisor, with the approval of the President, to use a verified bilingual ability as a regular and routine component of their assignment shall be provided a stipend of 2.0% of base salary. The District shall require testing of bilingual ability prior to authorization of the initial additional compensation.
Bilingual Stipend. Effective July 1, 2017, one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be paid quarterly at two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) to be provided to anyone designated by management to interpret a foreign language (including sign language) on an assignment. Receipt of the quarterly payment will be dependent upon the actual necessary utilization during the quarter. Members performing such services shall be drawn from agency volunteer lists, which shall be maintained and updated twice a year.

The District shall have a minimum of two (2) members to receive the bilingual stipend at each school site. The District reserves the right to determine the competency examination and method that qualifies a member’s ability to verbally interpret. 2. The District shall have a minimum of one (1) member to receive the bilingual stipend at each support site/department that requires a primary function of interpreting as determined by the District. Should the District determine additional need for interpreters at a specific support site/department, the minimum can be adjusted by mutual agreement between the Association and the District. The District reserves the right to determine the competency examination and method that qualifies a member’s ability to verbally interpret. 3. In the event that more than two (2) individuals are qualified within a designated school site/department, the criteria for assignment will be one of the following: a. Needs of the department; b. Proximity of the area(s) of service within the Department or school site; c. Shift availability; d. Performance; or e. Seniority within site and/or department. 4. Once identified, such unit member(s) shall receive the stipend unless they are notified by the District in writing. 5. The District shall provide the Association with the names and the location of all employees receiving the Bilingual Stipend upon request, with an anticipated five (5) workday turn- around.
Bilingual Stipend. Unit members who are regularly asked by management to use a language other than English as a part of their assigned work shall receive an additional monthly stipend of $50 provided: 11.3.1 The unit member has demonstrated fluency in the second language; 11.3.2 The unit member's job description does not require the ability to speak a language other than English; 11.3.3 The regular use of a language other than English is certified by the principal, director, or assistant superintendent, as appropriate; and 11.3.4 The stipend is approved by the superintendent or designee. 11.3.5 A stipend for written translations made by unit members at school sites will be paid at the rate of $5.00 per page (200-300 words).

Bilingual Stipend. Positions designated bilingual by the Board are to receive a stipend of two and one-half percent (2.5%). Positions that are designated in the job description as bilingual will not be entitled to this stipend.
