CERTIFIED SICK LEAVE. A. At the beginning of each school year, each certified employee shall be credited with one (1) day of sick leave per month at full pay for each full month of service or major portion thereof as projected for the employment year. Sick leave may be used for absence caused by illness, injury, surgery, maternity, paternity, adoption, quarantine, disability, or medical or diagnostic examinations or tests. Sick leave may be used for mental health issues, not listed above, that render the employee incapable of carrying out his/her duties. The district may, at its discretion, require proof of illness, when deemed appropriate, including but not limited to abuse of sick leave or false claims of illness. Attending a funeral service of anyone not covered in Policy 5.7 Bereavement Leave, a maximum of four (4) sick leave days per year may be used for this purpose and advanced approval must be given by the building principal and/or supervisor. B. Each individual will be allowed to accumulate sick leave from year to year with no maximum accrual ceiling. 1. Both parties agree to allow for the accumulation of sick leave without maximum as long as the manner in which funding for the statesick leave reimbursement” program remains unchanged. If for some reason, the state places a limit on the amount of accumulated sick leave it will financially support in providing the sick leave retirement benefit; both parties agree that the district’s obligation will be limited to the amount supported by the state. 2. Both parties agree that should the state change the sick leave reimbursement fee it charges Districts from the flat fee that existed in 1998-1999 to a fee related to the number of days accumulation allowed by the district, the district will not be obligated to pay for sick leave accumulated beyond 170 days. C. Certified employees shall be permitted to use sick leave when such absence is due to illness of that employee's children, spouse, significant other, parents, parents-in-law, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren. The Superintendent xxx, at his discretion, make judgments in favor of use of sick leave by an employee due to an illness of a loved one, whose circumstances are not covered by exact contract language. D. Absence due to injury incurred in the course of the employee's employment shall follow Xxxxxxx'x Compensation guidelines.

CERTIFIED SICK LEAVE. Should an employee be absent more than three consecutive days, a Medical Certificate will be required.
CERTIFIED SICK LEAVEIf an employee is ill for four (4) or more consecutive work days or in the event of repetitive illness, he/she may be required to produce a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner certifying that he/she is sick, disabled or has been exposed to a quarantinable disease. BUSU may, with reasonable notice, request the employee provide an acceptable medical certificate stating to the extent possible the impact on the individuals ability to perform his/her duties and prognosis with respect to the employees ability to return to work. If there is a charge for obtaining the medical certificate BUSU shall reimburse the employee for such cost.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • Payment for Unused Sick Leave (a) An employee with less than ten (10) years of FIU service who separates from FIU shall not be paid for any unused sick leave. (b) An employee who has completed ten (10) or more years of FIU service, has not been found guilty or has not admitted to being guilty of committing, aiding, or abetting any embezzlement, theft, or bribery in connection with State government, or has not been found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction of having violated any State law against or prohibiting strikes by public employees, and separates from FIU because of retirement for other than disability reasons, termination, or death, shall be compensated at the employee's current regular hourly rate of pay for one-eighth of all unused sick leave accrued prior to October 1, 1973, plus one- fourth of all unused sick leave accrued on or after October 1, 1973; provided that one-fourth of the unused sick leave since 1973 does not exceed 480 hours. The compensation in this paragraph 8(4)(b) shall not be given to an employee who starts employment at FIU on or after July 1, 2006. (c) Upon layoff, an employee with ten (10) or more years of FIU service shall be paid for unused sick leave as described in paragraph b., above, unless the employee requests in writing that unused sick leave be retained pending re-employment. For an employee who is re-employed by the University within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff, all unused sick leave shall be restored to the employee, provided the employee requests such action in writing and repays the full amount of any lump sum leave payments received at the time of layoff. An employee who is not re- employed within twelve (12) calendar months following layoff shall be paid for sick leave in accordance with this Policy. (d) All payments for unused sick leave shall be made in lump sum and shall not be used in determining the average final compensation of an employee in any State administered retirement system. An employee shall not be carried on the payroll beyond the last official day of employment, except that an employee who is unable to perform duties because of a disability may be continued on the payroll until all sick leave is exhausted. (e) If an employee has received a lump sum payment for accrued sick leave, the employee may elect in writing, upon re-employment within 100 days, to restore the employee's accrued sick leave. Restoration will be effective upon the repayment of the full lump sum leave payment. (f) In the event of the death of an employee, payment for unused sick leave at the time of death shall be made to the employee's beneficiary, estate, or as provided by law.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Accumulated Sick Leave ‌ The Employer shall inform all employees at least once each year of the number of sick days accumulated and shall make the information available to an employee on request.

  • Sick Leave Cash Out Eligible employees may elect to receive monetary compensation for accrued sick leave as follows: In January of each year an employee whose sick leave balance at the end of the previous year exceeds four hundred eighty (480) hours may elect to convert the sick leave hours earned in the previous calendar year, minus those hours used during the year, to monetary compensation. No sick leave hours may be converted which would reduce the calendar year end balance below four hundred eighty (480) hours. Monetary compensation shall be paid at the rate of twenty-five percent and shall be based on the employee’s current salary. All converted hours will be deducted from the sick leave balance. Employees who separate from University service due to retirement or death shall be compensated for the unused sick leave accumulation from the date of most recent hire in a leave eligible position with the State of Washington at the rate of 25%. Compensation shall be based upon the employee’s wage at the time of separation. For the purpose of this section, retirement shall not include vested out of service employees who leave funds on deposit with the retirement system. Former eligible employees who are re-employed within three (3) years of their separation from service shall be granted all unused sick leave credits, if any, to which they are entitled at time of separation.

  • Overtime Meals When employees are required to work more than two (2) hours beyond their regular work days, the Employer will provide hot meals at no cost to the employees, up to a maximum of sixteen dollars ($16.00) (receipts to be submitted) plus paid meal periods of one-half (1/2) hour at the prevailing rate and thereafter at four (4) hour intervals. Any early morning start before regular starting time is entitled to a paid meal. The breakfast limit is thirteen dollars ($13.00) (receipts to be submitted). Employees called out on overtime shall be paid for meals as above, after four (4) hours work.

  • Vacations and Sick Leave The Executive shall be entitled to paid annual vacation leave in accordance with the policies as established from time to time by the Board of Directors, which shall in no event be less than four weeks per annum. The Executive shall also be entitled to an annual sick leave benefit as established by the Board for senior management employees of the Bank. The Executive shall not be entitled to receive any additional compensation from the Bank for failure to take a vacation or sick leave, nor shall he be able to accumulate unused vacation or sick leave from one year to the next; provided, however, such Executive may carry forward from year to year a maximum of ten days of unused vacation leave.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.
