Child Care Benefit. If You suffer a Disability during Your Overseas Journey and as a result of this, confined in a Hospital as a registered in-patient and no other Adult is travelling with You to accompany the Child who is covered with Us on the same Journey, We will reimburse the reasonable and necessary Common Carrier (economy class return fare) and Hotel accommodation expenses including any mandatory taxes and charges incurred by one (1) Family Member residing in Malaysia to accompany the Child back to Your Home.

Child Care Benefit. We will reimburse for reasonable additional accommodation, communication, round trip economy class air ticket, meals and travel expenses incurred at the place of loss by one Immediate Family Member to take care of Your children aged below 18 years as a result of Your hospitalisation and/or to accompany Your said children back to Malaysia.

The member must be a custodial parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 13 5. The child must be living with the member. 6. Once the Member is approved and accepts the childcare allowance, the member must not be receiving a child care benefit for the same child from any other source. Members are not eligible to receive childcare benefits through AmeriCorps while they are receiving other childcare subsidies. The program will provide further information on childcare allowance upon request. Questions and problems with coverage should be directed to CTEP Program staff.

Child Care Benefit. In the event an Insured Person sustains an injury which results in a loss payable under the Table of Losses, and such loss results in an amount payable, at least equal to the Principal Sum amount, the Company will pay the reasonable and necessary charges for enrollment in an accredited Child Care facility for each Dependent Child of the Insured Person who is under thirteen (13) years of age and enrolls in an accredited Child Care facility within ninety (90) days following the date of the accident giving rise to the loss, or is already enrolled in such a facility. However, payment by the Company shall not exceed a maximum amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000) per year per Dependent Child and shall not exceed a maximum payment period of four (4) consecutive years. The above benefit shall only be payable under one of the policies issued by the Company to any Insured Person and shall not be payable where the same benefits are paid or payable under any other insurance.

The maximum full day reimbursement will be $20.00 per day. A full-day rate is defined as six (6) or more hours of care, or where the parent is being charged a full-day rate. Reimbursement is limited to fifty percent (50%) of the lesser of (i) the amount actually paid: and (ii) the usual and customary amount charged by the service provider for the same child care services. Between January 1 and February 1 of subsequent calendar years, Bargaining Unit employees must provide to the Employer, in a single package, detailed receipts substantiating the child care expenses in of which reimbursement is sought for the previous calendar year along with proof of payment (e.g., credit card receipt, front and back of cancelled cheque, or a validated receipt). Reimbursement in respect of a calendar year shall be made in one (1) lump sum cash payment, less applicable withholdings, if any. Reimbursement will be made only for child care expenses (as defined in the Income Tax Act) incurred by the Bargaining Unit employees. The Employer makes no representations as to whether a deduction from income is available under the Income Tax Act in respect of any amounts paid or payable under this plan. If both parents are eligible for reimbursement under this plan, only one (1) shall be entitled to claim reimbursement under this plan in a calendar year. The plan maximum of $2,300.00 per child will be provided annually, based on a calendar year. The amount will be prorated for less than full-time equivalent employment. A Bargaining Unit employee who has been appointed for less than a full calendar year shall be entitled to a pro rata amount for that year. There are no carryover provisions if the full $2,300.00 is not used in any given year. The terms “child care expense” and “eligible child” in this plan shall have the extended meaning given to them in subsection 63(3) of the Income Tax Act.
