Christmas or New Years. When a Nursing Unit or department is open continuously through Christmas and New Years, all employees in that service shall be entitled to take at least five (5) consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Years in accordance with their classification seniority provided that the Department Heads or Unit Managers are satisfied that enough experienced personnel are retained to provide proper and adequate service in those classifications. The Hospital shall endeavour to schedule a time off at Christmas to include December 24, 25 and 26. The time off at New Years shall include December 31 and January 1. Where it is possible to give both Christmas and New Years off, it will be according to Unit seniority. It is understood that full-time and part-time seniority will be integrated for this purpose. Scheduling regulations will be relaxed during the 21-day period from mid-December to mid-January. Exact dates to be established annually at a CUPE/Management Meeting prior to posting the Christmas schedule.

The days will be either December 25th and December 26th or December 31st and January 1st. The days will alternate each year. Where it is not possible to provide such time off for all part-time employees, then the time off will be provided on the basis of seniority. Clarity Note: For purposes of clarity days off for employees on the midnight shift shall be either December 24th or December 25th.

The School District, School and College will ensure that the School calendar accounts for the required per-semester contact hours for courses. When the instructional delivery is on the College site, it may be necessary for Students to attend classes on days when the School District is closed (e.g., different holiday closures). When Students take classes at the College scheduled on days when School is closed, the School District will ensure that at least one staff member with administrative authority be on call and available to be reached by the College’s Office of High School Programs or other College staff in case of emergency. The designated School staff member will have access to Student emergency contact information. While the College agrees to make scheduling accommodations for required State assessments, including the STAAR and End of Course Exams, all contact hour requirements must be met. For assessments not mandated by the State, the College and School District will come to a mutual agreement on administration dates in order to appropriately manage disruptions of college courses and ensure contact hour requirements are met.

  • Christmas Closedown 15.1 It is agreed that whenever annual leave is taken in conjunction with the Christmas/New Year period (as per Calendar in sub-clause 2.11), it is to be taken in accordance with the following procedure.

  • Effective January A member who is medically unfit for duty at the time commencement scheduled vacation as a result of an injury or illness 1) compensable under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and in receipt of benefits from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board or 2) for which medical documentationhas been provided and which has resulted in an approved medical leave or unfit for regular duties each for days or more, shall be entitled to reschedule his vacation, provided the vacation as rescheduled is taken before December of the calendar year in which the injury occurred, or December of that year if approved by the Chief of Police, such approval not to be unreasonably withheld. If the member remains medically unfit for duty such that the rescheduled time is not taken by December as aforesaid, the member shall be entitled to choose to either (1) receive in the first pay period of the following calendar year an equal to the salary he would normally receive in respect of the vacation time not taken or (2) carry over the vacation to the following year, to be scheduled as approved by the or his designate. In the event that the member chooses to carry over the vacation to the following year, the time must be taken prior to the end of the following calendar year. In the event that the carried-over is not taken prior to the end of the following calendar year, the member shall receive a payout at the salary rate applicable when the vacation time was earned. It is understood and agreed that regardless of seniority, no scheduling of any carried over vacation time will result in any member's scheduled vacation being cancelled or bumped. A member who is on suspension, either paid or unpaid, at the time of the commencement of his scheduled vacation, shall not be required to report in for the period of his scheduled vacation. A member who is on suspension, either paid or unpaid, and who has not scheduled his vacation for the year shall do so as soon as requested and, once such vacation time is approved, shall not be required to report in during the scheduled vacation time.
