CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. SECTION 1. Eligible employees who are in a duty status on any election day shall be granted time to vote in accordance with applicable regulations. As a general rule, where the polls are not open at least 3 hours either before or after an employee’s regular hours of work he may be granted an amount of excused leave which will permit him to report for work 3 hours after the polls open or leave work 3 hours before the polls close, whichever requires the lesser amount of time off.
SECTION 2. The parties recognize the importance of employee participation in authorized charitable fund raising campaigns, savings programs, blood donor programs, and other charitable and humanitarian activities. It is agreed that such participation shall always be voluntary and that the Employer and the Union shall refrain from exerting pressure upon employees to participate. The Union agrees to encourage participation in such activities.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. 24.1 The Union agrees to cooperate with the Employer in truly voluntary charity programs, e.g., Combined Federal Campaign, Blood Donor Program, and to lend its support to these worthy causes.
24.2 The Union agrees to assist the Employer in its efforts to have Officers aware of the advantages of participation in the U.S. Savings Bond program through payroll savings.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. 1701 Court leave shall be granted by the Employer in accordance with Article II of this Agreement and with the provisions of the Federal Personnel Manual, Chapter 630, Subchapter 10, and the Federal Personnel Manual Supplement 990-2, Book 630, Subchapter S10 and VA Manual MP-5, Part I, Chapter 630. 1702 The provisions of the Federal Personnel Xxxxxx and VA Manual directives listed in Paragraph 1701 shall apply to a Registered Nurse’s regular pay and the disposition of fees received by the Registered Nurse for any type of court leave. 1703 In accordance with VA Policy, Registered Nurses scheduled to work on civil election days and who are eligible to vote in such elections, will be excused without charge to leave or loss of pay, in order to vote as follows: Where the polls are not open at least three hours either before or after the Registered Nurse’s regular hours of work, the Registered Nurse may be granted an amount of excused leave which will permit reporting for work three hours after the polls open or leave work three hours before the polls close, which ever requires the lesser amount of time. It is understood that Registered Nurses who do not intend to vote or who are not eligible to vote are not entitled to such time off. If the Registered Nurse’s voting place is beyond normal commuting distance and vote by absentee ballot is not permitted, the Registered Nurse may, upon written request, be granted additional time off, as appropriate, in accordance with applicable regulations and on a case by case basis. 1704 For Registered Nurses who vote in jurisdictions which require registration in person, excused time to register will be granted on the same basis for voting, except that no time shall be granted if registration can be accomplished by mail or on a non-workday. 1705 Jury Duty 1706 A Registered Nurse who reports for jury duty and who is granted court leave will be excused from work on the days required to serve. A Registered Nurse who is granted court leave and is excused or released by the court for any day or substantial portion of a day is expected to return to duty except when only a small part of the work day would be involved; or the distance from the court to the work place is such that it would place an unreasonable requirement upon the Registered Nurse, or the regular tour of duty occurs on evenings or nights. CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. Section 1. Employee absences and entitlement to fees and travel expenses for court and court related services will be in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The table in Appendix 4 is provided for determining such entitlement. Any fees received from the court for the purpose of such duty shall be delivered to the Employer together with satisfactory evidence of time served on such duties. Such evidence shall be in the form of a signed statement from the Court or other satisfactory evidence of the time served on such duty. Allowance received for meals, transportation, etc., will be retained by the employee. Intermittent employees while not eligible for court leave will be excused and may retain any fees received.
Section 2. If an employee is called for any civic duty, he/she shall promptly notify the Employer in order that arrangements may be made for his/her absence from the activity.
Section 3. In accordance with rules and regulations an employee who is summoned or ordered to an emergency duty in the National or State Guard or who is called by proper authority to participate in searches or other types of rescue or protection work will be excused without charge to leave or loss of pay normally not to exceed three (3) consecutive workdays for any single period of excused absence.
Section 4. The Employer and the Union agree to encourage all employees to exercise their right to vote. Administrative excused time will be given to eligible employees to vote in national, state, or municipal elections, or referendums consistent with applicable Federal rules and regulations. Employees desiring to vote in such election or referendum shall be excused by their immediate supervisors in accordance with the following:
a. Request for excused time is made in advance of the day on which excused time is desired.
b. An SF 71, Application for Leave, shall be submitted certifying that the employee in fact voted.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. When the administrator speaks or writes as a citizen, he shall be free from institutional censorship and discipline. The administrator bears the responsibility to clarify the fact that he speaks or writes as an individual and not on behalf of the institution.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. The Administrator shall devote his time, attention and energy to the business of the District.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. If an employee is called to perform any of the civic duties identified in this agreement, he/she shall promptly notify the Employer in order that arrangements maybe made for her/his absence from the regular place of work The employee shall present to the Employer acceptable evidence of the time served performing civic duties.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. Section 1. The Employer and the Union recognize the value of employee participation in civic activities and special programs approved by the Department of the Air Force and encourage all employees in the unit to work toward community improvement. A unit employee's status with respect to duty, leave, and pay while participating in authorized activity shall be as prescribed by regulations relating to such activity.
Section 2. The Union agrees to encourage employees' voluntary support and participation in fund drives, squadron/base special events, substance abuse prevention and control program, fire prevention, and safety program.
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES. Section 1. Excused absences for voting purposes will be granted in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
Section 2. The parties recognize that local and national health, welfare, and emergency relief organizations depend largely upon voluntary contributions for successfully achieving their objectives. Employees are encouraged as individual citizens and members of a community to contribute voluntarily to worthwhile organizations. Campaigns shall be conducted in the spirit of true voluntary giving. The parties agree that:
a. Fair Share" suggestions may be used as guidance and education, but the assignment of a dollar quota to an individual or wage rate is prohibited.
b. When envelopes are used, everyone who desires to keep his/her gift private may use the envelope without his/her name being placed thereon unless he/she elected to do so.
c. Supervisors will not act as collectors from their subordinates.
d. Officers and stewards of the Union shall not act as collectors of contributions from any employee.
e. Coercion, either overt or implied, shall not be practiced by collectors, supervisors, or other management personnel.
Section 3. The Union agrees to cooperate in and actively support depot programs designed to promote safety, time and material savings, transportation savings, correction of delinquency and absenteeism, and participation in such civic programs as fund drives, savings bond drives, alcoholism program, and blood donor programs.
