COMMITTEE FOR UNION-MANAGEMENT COOPERATION. Section 1. The parties recognize that during the period in which this agreement is in effect, problems of administration of this agreement may arise which are not now anticipated by either party. They also recognize that during such period more mutually constructive and productive relationships are likely to exist between the City and the Union and among both management and non-management employees, if both the City and the Union continue and enlarge their respective efforts to gain a better appreciation and understanding of each other’s problems and objectives. They recognize frequently what first appear to be problems or areas of conflict and disagreement are actually the result of misunderstandings which are cleared away upon a complete and xxxxx exchange of viewpoints and ideas. They believe that even though limitations are being placed upon formal collective bargaining negotiations through the extended period of this agreement, a better atmosphere in which to achieve improved day-by-day relations between the parties, which they both desire, can be created through meetings of the kind described below. Section 2. Meetings may be held during the term of this agreement of the committee formed as part of this article. It is understood that such meetings will be held for the purpose of appraising and discussing the problems, if any, which may arise concerning administration, interpretation or application of the agreement or other matters which either party believed will contribute to the improvement in the relations between them within the framework of this agreement. It is understood that such meetings shall not be for the purpose of handling grievances or conducting collective bargaining negotiations or for any purpose which in any way will modify, add to, or detract from the provisions of this agreement. In agreeing to such meetings, the parties are providing concrete evidence of their sincere desire to encourage friendly, cooperative relationships between their respective representatives at all levels and with and between all employees covered by this agreement, and to find ways to overcome difficulties, influences, or attitudes which interfere with such relationships. Section 3. This committee shall also consider handling problems concerning the safety of working conditions. COMMITTEE FOR UNION-MANAGEMENT COOPERATION. 33.01 For the purposes of fostering a productive working relationship, and addressing safety issues within the workplace, the Union and City agree that a Union Management Cooperation Committee shall be continued. Meetings of the Union Management Committee shall be held on an as needed basis at the request of either party. 33.02 The committee or any employee may call to the attention of his department head the fact that certain equipment may be dangerous to use, and the department head shall have effective authority to remedy the situation by withdrawal of the equipment from use or arranging for its immediate repair. If the department head refuses to take the necessary steps to remedy the situation, he must notify the employee or the committee of his decision within twelve (12) hours after the matter is brought to his attention, and the employee or committee may take the matter immediately to the City Safety Officer for his immediate investigation and determination. Any employee making a charge with respect to the safety of equipment shall have been expected to appropriately advise his supervisor of the deficiency of the machine which caused it to be unsafe. 33.03 The committee shall be composed of three (3) members designated by the Union and three (3) members designated by the City. All recommendations with respect to safety shall be made the subject of a resolution by a majority of the committee. If the committee is unable to reach a majority decision on any question of safety, the question shall be referred to the person or persons selected by a majority of the committee to decide the issue. 33.04 Minutes shall be kept of all meetings and shall be distributed to the City and the Union to the end that both the City and the employees will have an understanding of the deliberations of the committee.

  • Joint Union/Management Committee It shall be appropriate for either the Union or the University to request that a Joint Union/Management committee be convened, with Environmental Health and Safety as a participating member, to discuss health and safety concerns and to explore options for addressing those concerns through appropriate training or other approaches.

  • Union/Management Committee There shall be a union/management committee comprised of four (4) employee representatives appointed by the Union and four (4) employer representatives. The Committee's purpose is to provide and promote effective and meaningful communication of information and ideas and to make joint recommendations on matters of concern. Matters that are properly the subject of an individual grievance will not be discussed at this committee. The Committee will meet quarterly, unless agreed otherwise, at a time and place mutually agreed to provided there is business for their joint consideration. The parties will exchange agenda items at least one (1) week prior to the meeting. The parties further agree the Committee may meet at any time its members mutually agree a meeting should be held. The duties of the Chairperson will be shared by the parties. Copies of the minutes shall be provided to Committee members. The employer agrees to pay for time spent during regular working hours for representatives of the union attending such meetings. The parties may utilize video or teleconferencing services for the purposes of committee members attending committee meetings, where appropriate and available. Neither party can unreasonably deny an initiative to utilize video or teleconferencing services.

  • Labour Management Committee (a) Where the parties mutually agree that there are matters of mutual concern and interest that would be beneficial if discussed at a Labour Management Committee Meeting during the term of this Agreement, the following shall apply. (b) An equal number of representatives of each party as mutually agreed shall meet at a time and place mutually satisfactory. A request for a meeting hereunder will be made in writing prior to the date proposed and accompanied by an agenda of matters proposed to be discussed, which shall not include matters that are properly the subject of grievance or negotiations for the amendment or renewal of this agreement. Any representative(s) attending such meetings during their regularly scheduled hours of work shall not lose regular earnings as a result of such attendance. (c) It is agreed that the topic of a rehabilitation program for drug and alcohol abuse is an appropriate topic for the Labour-Management Committee. It is also agreed that the topic of the utilization of full-time and part-time staff is an appropriate topic for the Labour-Management Committee. The committee shall have access to work schedules and job postings upon request. (d) It is understood that joint meetings with other Labour-Management Committees in the Hospital may be scheduled concerning issues of mutual interest if satisfactory to all concerned. (e) Where two or more agreements exist between a Hospital and CUPE the Committee may be a joint one representing employees under both agreements, unless otherwise agreed.

  • JOINT LABOUR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE A Joint Labour Management Committee shall be established to attend to those matters which are of mutual interest. To ensure its effectiveness the Committee shall be separate and apart from the grievance procedure.

  • LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Section 1. In order to facilitate communication between labor and management, a Labor Management Committee consisting of the Department Head and/or his designated alternate, the Assistant Chief of Police and two (2) Team Managers, and three (3) representatives of the Lincoln Police Union, along with at least one (1) Team Representative, will make up the Labor Management Committee. The Department Head will designate management personnel and the Union shall select Union representatives. Members will serve at the pleasure of the Department Head or Union President, depending upon who the member represents. Members will serve and be replaced on a staggered system (approximately three (3) year limit) depending upon the schedule agreed upon by the Department Head and the Union President. Section 2. Each Team area will be represented by a member of any rank to serve as spokesperson for that area. They will meet at least one week prior to the monthly Labor Management Committee meeting to formulate the common areas of interest and to elect a spokesperson to present the items in writing to the Labor Management Committee. Payment for attending this meeting will be at the discretion of the Department Head. Spokesperson will be chosen on a rotating basis. Team representatives will be picked by a vote of the Team members that they are representing. Section 3. The Labor Management Committee may discuss any area of the Department, with limitation only on those areas already under agreement between the City and the Union. The agenda will be based on the problem areas brought to the attention of the Committee by the Team Representatives and on any area representative members of Labor Management feel need to be discussed. Topics for discussion will be posted on the Union bulletin board and disseminated to Labor Management Committee members at least one (1) week prior to the monthly meeting. Section 4. Membership is subject to change through attrition and elected office, however, a one (1) week notice must be given to the Committee to afford the new member(s) voting privileges. Section 5. Realizing that communication is the key element to the smooth operation of any organization, the Labor Management Committee will xxxxxx an element of cooperation and unity of organizational members, be they labor or management. Section 6. Meetings shall be held at least once per calendar month. Additional meetings may be scheduled by mutual agreement of the Committee and the Department Head. Section 7. A quorum shall consist of two (2) members from labor and two (2) members from management.

  • Labor-Management Cooperation When an Appointing Authority initiates a planning process or management study which is anticipated to result in layoff, the Appointing Authority will meet and confer with the Local Union during the decision planning phase and again during the implementation planning phase. The Appointing Authority and the Local Union shall enter into negotiations regarding a Memoranda of Understanding upon request of either party to modify this Agreement regarding the implementation plans which shall include, but are not limited to, the following: • Length of layoff notice; • Job and retraining opportunities; • Alternative placement methods; • Early retirement options pursuant to M.S. 43A.24, Subd. 2(i); • Bumping/vacancy options for part-time employees to preserve their insurance eligibility or contribution; and • Other methods of mitigating layoff or their effect on employees.

  • JOINT LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The parties agree that they will continue the Joint Labor-Management Committee to discuss matters of mutual interest relating to the employees covered by this Agreement. Topics for the Joint Labor-Management Committee may include, but are not limited to, Professional Development, Incentive Pay, etc. The Committee shall meet quarterly or as mutually agreed by the co-chairs. The President of CWA or designee and the Director of Human Resources or designee shall serve as co-chairs.

  • Recognition of Union Stewards and Grievance Committee In order to provide an orderly and speedy procedure for the settling of grievances, the Employer acknowledges the rights and duties of the Union Stewards. The Xxxxxxx shall assist any Employee, which the Xxxxxxx represents, in preparing and presenting her grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure.
