The Contract Employment clause defines the terms under which an individual is hired for a specific period or project, rather than as a permanent employee. Contract Employment. (a) Employees appointed for a fixed term shall be advised in writing of the terms of the appointment and such advice shall specify the dates of commencement and termination of employment.
Contract Employment. Retired teachers who are reemployed by the Board shall receive a one year limited contract of employment. Such contracts shall automatically terminate at the end of each school year without further action, notice or procedure by the school district. Continued employment from contract to contract will be solely at the discretion of the Board. A retired teacher reemployed by the Board shall be ineligible for a continuing contract of employment, regardless of years of service with the district.
Contract Employment. The Town and the S.O.A. recognize the need for Police coverage for certain events, such as concerts, construction sites, retail establishments, etc. The Town shall attempt, if possible, to schedule officers for such events at least one (1) week prior to the need for Police coverage. No contract employment shall take place until all provisions, i.e. written contract, insurance certificate, etc., are complied with.
Contract Employment. In the absence of any other period of notice specified in the contract of service, the provisions of this clause will also apply to fixed term contract employees.
Contract Employment. (a) It is acknowledged that the Company shall have the right to employ contract labour in the event of emergency, employee sickness or accident or in other circumstances where the situation dictates.
(b) The employee representative(s) at the site will be notified of the intention to engage contract labour.
(c) There shall be no right to engage contract labour where industrial action is taken over a genuine safety issue.
(d) The Company may employ contract employees, on an hourly hire basis; their employment may be terminated by an hour’s notice given either by the Company or employee.
(e) Such employees will be paid for ordinary time at the hourly rate for their classification, plus 20%.
(f) Contract employees are not entitled to payment for annual leave, Public Holidays, sick leave and bereavement leave.
(g) Should a contract employee wish to apply for a permanent vacancy they will be guaranteed an interview and due consideration.
Contract Employment. 27.1. Contracts may be offered, subject to agreement within the Management Team about the need for contract employment, in the following circumstances: i. for position of concert master ii. to fill temporary vacancies.
27.2. All contract musicians will be offered a written contract under terms and conditions as set down in this Agreement. Prior to commencing employment contract musicians will be given a written contract which will contain the following information:
i. Date of commencement and expiration of the contract.
ii. Salary and any applicable allowances.
iii. Position and location.
iv. Responsibilities of the position.
v. Rights and obligations of the parties.
27.3. If a contract of twelve (12) months or more duration is not to be renewed, the musician shall be advised at least two (2) months prior to the expiration date of the contract.
27.4. Contracts shall not be used to undermine the establishment strength of the orchestra as defined in Appendix C.
Contract Employment a) A contract employee may be employed either on a full-time or part-time basis and shall be entitled to all the provisions of this Agreement, but calculated pro rata where appropriate.
b) On engagement, a contract employee shall be given written advice as per 5.1, and in addition will be advised, in writing, of the date on which the employment is to terminate.
c) Staff will only be engaged on a fixed term contract where:
(i) a position is of a temporary nature and limited duration for the purpose of undertaking a specific project or task; or
(ii) the position is vacant as a result of an employees absence on leave (paid or unpaid) or secondment, or is otherwise absent from duty;
(iii) the position is funded from a specific purpose external grant;

Contract Employment. (1) Contracts may be offered, subject to consultation with the Consultative Committee about the need for contract employment, in the following circumstances:
(a) for positions of concert master and co-concert master;
(b) to musicians of non-resident status for positions which have been difficult to fill;
(c) in order to attract an exceptional musician to enhance and strengthen the Orchestra for specified programs or periods of time;
(d) other positions from time to time as agreed.
(2) All contractual musicians will be offered a written contract, which will contain the following minimum information:
(a) The Agreement upon which the contract is based.
(b) The date of commencement and expiration of the contract.
(c) The salary and any applicable allowances.
(d) Position and location.
(e) The responsibilities of the position.
(f) The rights and obligations of the parties.
(3) The total terms and conditions package provided under the terms of the contract shall not be less than the total of the corresponding Award/Agreement terms and conditions provisions.
(4) If a contract of twelve (12) months or more duration is not to be renewed, the musician shall be advised at least two (2) months prior to the expiration date of the contract.
(5) The Company may recruit musicians of non-resident status providing that it shall advertise and audition twice in Australia before advising the Union of its intention to advertise overseas. Musicians recruited as non-resident musicians who are nearing completion of their contract of employment may be offered a further contract of employment or ongoing employment subject to satisfying Australian immigration requirements.
(6) The provisions of subclause 5 do not apply to New Zealand citizens who may apply, and be auditioned, for any position open to Australian residents. Upon success through the audition process and subject to satisfying Australian immigration procedures, a New Zealand citizen may be offered a term contract or ongoing employment.
(7) Contracts shall not be used to undermine establishment strength.
(8) The parties shall monitor the application of this clause.
(9) Notwithstanding the provisions of this clause, contract engagements in the following circumstances shall not require Consultative Committee deliberation.
(a) The engagement of musicians for casual employment.
(b) The engagement of musicians to externally funded positions.
