Death in Family/Bereavement Leave. Any regular Employee covered by this Agreement who suffers a death in the family shall be granted three (3) consecutive work days off with full pay. Employees shall receive such paid days off in addition to, and irrespective of, the Employee's regular days off. No payment shall be made for any part of such leave which falls within the Employee's vacation period or other paid period when the Employee is not covering Employee’s job. For the purposes of this section, "family" shall include spouse, domestic partner, parents or legal guardians, children, brother or sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, step-parents, step- children, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. In addition to the above, an Employee shall have the right to use up to three days of vacation and/or in-lieu days for bereavement purposes for individuals other than those listed in the above paragraph. The three days set forth herein may not be used in conjunction with any other leave, including the three bereavement days set forth in this Article for bereavement of the death of family members in the above-listed categories, and the Employer may require verification of the basis for this request.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE If a death occurs in the immediate family of an employee bereavement leave shall not start until the day following the death of that person. Employees shall be granted five (5) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of parent, spouse, common law spouse, brother, sister, grandchild, son or daughter. Employees shall be granted three (3) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of grandparent, mother in-law, father-in-law, brother-in- law, sister in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law, step parents, step siblings. If a death occurs, as in during vacation bereavement leave shall be substituted and the vacation shall be rescheduled at a later date. Where an employee has been requested and has agreed to act as a pallbearer, time off work shall be granted without loss of pay to attend the funeral or other service. Where such a request involves more than one employee equal considerationshall be granted. ARTICLE DUTY The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence Without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who serves as a juror. The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in any matter arising out of his employment. EMPLOYER shall pay such employee his regular straight time pay for each day as long as the remuneration from the Court is returned to and provided the employee would otherwise have been scheduled to work for the EMPLOYER and does not work. The employee must give prior notice to the EMPLOYER and shall present proof of service.

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement.   • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay.
