Definition of Leave of Absence. Leave of absence is defined as an authorized, unpaid, extended absence from employment. There are two types of leaves. Short-term leave is defined as thirty days or less. Long-term leave is defined as more than thirty days but not more than one year.
Definition of Leave of Absence. A “Leave of Absence” is a predetermined and definite period of time during which a nurse is permitted to be absent from work without loss of accumulated seniority. Accrual of a nurse’s PTO and sick leave shall be suspended during an unpaid leave of absence.
