The JCO that is directed to work overtime and who decides to utilize the "buddy system" will be the individual who is placed at the end of the directed overtime list. c) Only under extra-ordinary circumstances, will JCO's who are on their last scheduled work day prior to their Regular Days Off (RDO) be directed to work overtime. d) Only under extra-ordinary circumstances, will JCO's who are on their RDO be directed to work overtime. 2) Directed overtime shall include time in excess of 15 minutes that an officer is not allowed by Probation Department Management to leave at the end of their shift. In these instances, the JCO will be placed at the end of the directed overtime list. 3) All JCO's will be allowed one (1) “Pass” when directed by Probation management to work an overtime shift. If a JCO uses their “Pass” they will remain in their current position on the overtime list. JCO's shall not be permitted to make use of the Grievance Resolution Procedure or appeal the action or results of another JCO utilizing the "Pass" system.
Directed Overtime. 31.1 Directed overtime refers to the situation where an employee is notified during their normal hours of work that they are required to perform extra duty with no discretion as to when they perform that extra duty. 31.2 If the directed overtime is continuous with the employee’s normal hours of work an employee will be eligible for payment at the relevant rate for the hours worked. In determining whether an overtime attendance is or is not continuous with ordinary hours, or is or is not separate from other duty, meal periods will be disregarded. 31.3 If the directed overtime is not continuous with the employee’s normal hours of work, the minimum period of payment will be four hours at the relevant overtime rate. 31.4 The minimum period for payment in clause 31.3 does not apply to overtime performed while on call (clause 33) or to emergency duty (clause 34).

Directed Overtime a. Personnel will be considered for overtime on a voluntary basis before mandatory overtime is directed. 1. When there is time for advance notification, the person who has worked the least hours of overtime will be asked first if he/she wants the overtime assignment. 2. When time allows, the first person to be contacted for overtime will be personnel who are on their days off. b. In the event no employee accepts the overtime assignment on a voluntary basis, individuals on the shift going off duty will be held over to ensure that the shift coming on duty has minimum staffing. No officer shall work more than 16 hours in one 24-hour period (including overtime).

  • Overtime Overtime will begin to accrue after sixty (60) hours in a two (2) week period averaged over the scheduling period determined by the local parties. Overtime will apply if the employee works in excess of the normal daily hours. Payment for overtime is as in Article 16.01.

  • Mandatory Overtime a. Mandatory Overtime is overtime that an employee is assigned and required to work involuntarily, and will only be required in operational emergencies when sufficient voluntary overtime cannot be secured to maintain the Company’s operation. Mandatory overtime will be limited to the number of employees and hours required to cover the emergency as determined by local management. b. Mandatory overtime will not exceed 4 hours past an employee’s scheduled shift in any 24 hour period. Employees will not be required to work mandatory overtime until the opportunity to work the additional hours has been offered to all qualified employees who are currently at work, and if there are an insufficient number of volunteers, then to otherwise eligible employees whose names remain on the overtime call sign up list. c. Mandatory overtime will be assigned in reverse bid seniority order according to shift time, except that employees already working overtime will be assigned last. d. Every attempt will be made to notify employees on duty of mandatory overtime at least 1 hour in advance. If 1 hour’s advance notice is not provided, the employee will receive 1 ½ hours’ pay as a penalty in addition to the pay earned for any mandatory overtime hours actually worked. e. Employees will not be assigned mandatory overtime during their vacation periods. For this purpose, the vacation period is defined as the period beginning 24 hours after the commencement of the employee’s last regularly scheduled shift before the vacation commenced. An employee may be assigned to mandatory overtime on the last regularly assigned shift prior to a vacation or DAT day, but will be placed at the bottom of the mandatory overtime list. f. If any mandatory overtime causes a rest period violation to occur, every attempt will be made to adjust the employee’s shift to provide the minimum 8 hours rest. g. All mandatory overtime hours will be paid at the applicable rate of pay but not less than the time and one half (1.5X) rate of pay regardless of work status or hours worked. If an employee is required to work mandatory overtime on two or more consecutive days, the minimum payment for all mandatory overtime hours worked will be at the double-time (2X) rate of pay.
