Dock Days. An absence without approval by the Superintendent or his/her designee will be a dock day. Such absences are misconduct subject to discipline under Article 8 and may be considered “serious offenses” (for example, consecutive dock days) under Article 8, Section 8.1.
Dock Days. Dock Days may be granted by the superintendent after all personal leave days have been used and will result in the loss of salary and benefits for any dock day granted. All benefits will be maintained during the period of dock at the employees expense through the additional deduction of prorated compensation. The Board will not pay any STRS contributions for dock days taken by a teacher who buys back those days for STRS service credit.
Dock Days. Members of the certified staff are under a contracted period of obligation of 182 days or more per year for performance of professional services. The Board of Education does not encourage dock days as an approved form of leave. It is important to note that mere willingness to lose pay does not permit one to be absent arbitrarily. However, in rare circumstances this might be the only type of leave available to the teacher. In order to take a dock day, specific written reasons shall be forwarded to the Superintendent. The Superintendent will approve or deny the request for dock days. Taking dock days without prior approval could result in disciplinary action.
Dock Days. The building principal/program supervisor may grant leaves of absence up to five days annually without pay (includes adjustments for District contribution to insurance benefits and sick leave accrual) to be taken either consecutively or singly. An additional day may be granted upon request for approval to Employee Services.
Dock Days. An employee who is granted a dock day(s) shall be responsible for paying one-half (½) of the full cost of insurances for each dock day.
Dock Days. The use of dock days is highly discouraged. A dock day may not be used without prior approval by the immediate supervisor. The use of a dock day without prior approval will incur the following disciplinary measures: First offense in a school year – A formal letter of reprimand will be placed in the employee’s personnel file. Second offense in a school year – Employee will receive a two (2) day suspension without pay. Third offense will result in the dismissal of the employee.
Dock Days a. If an employee takes a dock day, he/she will repay/reimburse the Board of Education his/her pro rated share of insurance benefits for that day said pro-ration to be based on the contractual work year.
Dock Days. After depletion of all sick-leave credit or denial of discretionary leave due to black out days, the teacher will have one contracted day of his/her salary deducted for every day absent.
Dock Days. Leave beyond the employee’s accrued leave (dock days) shall not be permitted without prior approval by the Superintendent of Schools. Leave will be granted or denied on a case by case basis based upon the facts and extenuating circumstances necessitating the leave request.
Dock Days. 1. If a bargaining unit member has an attendance rate of 95% or greater, he/she may take up to a maximum of three (3) dock days during a school year. The bargaining unit member must provide prior notification and reason to administration prior to using the dock day(s). A dock day cannot be used before or after a school calendar holiday, vacation, or break. Bargaining unit members shall not be paid for dock days.
