Exclusive Representative Leave. The Exclusive Representative shall be credited with six days during the two-year Agreement term, with no more than five days to be used in any one year. The number of days shall not accumulate from one two-year Agreement term to another. The teachers who are officers or agents of the Exclusive Representative may use these days, with pay. Written request for such leave days shall be made through the president of the Exclusive Representative. The Exclusive Representative agrees to notify the Superintendent in writing no less than 48 hours prior to the date of intended use of such days. The Exclusive Representative will be responsible for reimbursing the School District all costs associated with hiring a substitute for a teacher taking this leave.

Exclusive Representative Leave. The exclusive representative shall be granted up to twelve (12) days of paid exclusive representative leave per school year, non-accumulative, to attend meetings or otherwise conduct exclusive representative business. Exclusive Representative leave for negotiations and/or mediation sessions with the District shall not be deducted from the twelve (12) total exclusive representative leave days. The exclusive representative shall reimburse the School District 100% of the cost of a substitute teacher for each day of exclusive representative leave that is used, if one is hired. The exclusive representative agrees to notify the teacher’s immediate supervisor and the Human Resources Office by email at least one week prior to the use of any exclusive representative leave. The School District will submit an invoice to the exclusive representative for the cost of the substitute teachers.

Individuals making use of such leave time shall notify their building administrator before taking such leave and preferably 48 hours in advance of time away from the classroom. In the event that less than a complete day is used, the Exclusive Representative will only be charged with only time used. Exclusive Representative Leave. The entire teaching staff as a whole shall be granted up to ten (10) days of association leave yearly for the purpose of attending meetings or conferences. Except in the case of emergencies, the Association shall give the supervising Principal three days written notice and shall reimburse the School District for the cost of a substitute teacher for association days utilized after the first 8 days of association leave. No more than 2 members of the teaching staff per building may be absent under this section at any one time. No more than 4 days of association leave shall be granted to any one teacher. An association leave day shall not be granted for the first or last day of the school year. The School District reserves the right to exceed the limitations on the number days imposed by this subdivision at its discretion. Exclusive Representative Leave days shall not include Teacher Discipline, Mediation, Arbitration, or Negotiations sessions scheduled during the workday. Although the Association is granted association leave days by this section, in emergency situations, the approval of a request for a specific date may be denied.

State / Regional Use: A leave of absence, without pay and fringe benefits, of up to two years shall be granted to any teacher upon written authorization for the purpose of serving as a state or regional officer of the Exclusive Representative. Upon return from such leave, the teacher shall be placed at the same position on the salary schedule and retain the same fringe benefits which had accrued prior to taking Exclusive Representative leave.
