External Hiring. External hiring for positions with the Hastings and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx District School Board will normally be done only after all TAT, STS and consideration of increases in contractual entitlement have been considered. External advertising will occur only after internal advertising has not filled a vacancy except as authorized by the Joint Staffing Committee.

External Hiring. External hiring efforts may be conducted during and after the posting process.
External Hiring. The hiring committee shall review and evaluate the applicants on the basis of qualifications pertinent to the job requirements, previous work performance, and the criteria as stated in writing by the Employer.

External Hiring. Notwithstanding the above, for the staffing cycle for the 2003-2004 school year only bargaining unit members who have been declared surplus shall be recalled to staff complement vacancies based on seniority first. In the event that the most senior teacher on the recall list does not have the qualifications necessary to fill a staff complement vacancy, the next most senior teacher on the list with appropriate qualifications may be recalled. Any teacher(s) passed over in this manner will be given first consideration for the next and any subsequent staff complement vacancy postings. In the event that none of the teachers on the surplus list have the qualifications necessary for the posting, the Board may advertise and hire externally. Members on the recall list will be given first consideration for any Long Term Occasional positions. Surplus members shall be entitled to continue to be enrolled in benefits plans in which the members were enrolled immediately prior to being declared surplus, with the teacher paying the full cost of premiums for up to a maximum of two (2) years after being declared surplus, subject to the approval of the insurance carrier.
External Hiring. For classifications with grades, the positioning of newly hired employees takes into account the employee's relevant previous experiences in relation to the classification occupied. Subsequently, the employee is included in the progression process and continues his progression according to articles 30.03.1 or 30.03.2, depending on his grade at hiring. At no time can a new employee be hired at the specialist grade. The positioning of a new employee must allow continuous salary progression over a minimum period of 3 years worked.
