Senior Teacher Clause Samples
The 'Senior Teacher' clause defines the role, responsibilities, and qualifications of a senior-level teaching staff member within an organization or institution. Typically, this clause outlines the criteria for attaining senior teacher status, such as years of experience, advanced certifications, or demonstrated leadership in educational settings. It may also specify additional duties, such as mentoring junior teachers, leading curriculum development, or participating in administrative decisions. Senior Teacher. (a) Subject to the provisions for implementing the classification set out in the Appendix to this Award, an appointee to a Senior Teacher classification shall be entitled to the following annual allowance: Level One - 3.2% of the maximum total salary per annum as prescribed in subclause (1) of this clause. Level Two - 6.9% of the maximum total salary per annum as prescribed in subclause (1) of this clause.
(b) A teacher in a promotional position who achieves a Senior Teacher Level 1 classification shall be entitled to the minimum allowance applicable to the promotion position or the Senior Teacher Level 1 classification whichever is the greater.

b. In primary annexes a Senior Teacher shall be named for the school year to act for the Vice-Principal when he/she is absent from the school. Senior Teacher. (a) A teacher will incrementally progress to senior teacher, subject to the following criteria:
(i) one year’s employment on Band 3, Step 4; and
(ii) completion of three (3) days professional development, in their own time, in each of the three (3) years preceding their application; and
(iii) provision, on request, of a portfolio of evidence of professional development activities undertaken; and
(iv) a commitment to continue to participate in professional development.

Senior Teacher. A Senior Teacher shall be appointed on a yearly basis in each annex of an elementary school other than an annex where a Vice-Principal is permanently located. The Principal shall inform the school staff of the opportunity to be selected as a Senior Teacher. It is understood that the selection of the Senior Teacher is at the discretion of the Principal.
Senior Teacher. (a) A teacher will incrementally progress to Senior Teacher, subject to the following criteria:
(i) one year’s employment on Band 3, Step 4; and
(ii) completion of three (3) days professional development, in their own time, in each of the three (3) years preceding their application; and
(iii) provision, on request, of a portfolio of evidence of professional development activities undertaken; and
(iv) a commitment to continue to participate in professional development
(b) The salary is shown in Schedule 1.
(c) In the case of a part-time teacher, this clause will be paid on a pro-rata basis according to the number of hours per week worked.
(d) For the purposes of this clause, a day would require a minimum of six (6) hours course content.
(e) For the purposes of this clause, professional development is a professional activity conducted by an accredited professional body, i.e. C&K, ECA, ECTA, Department of Education and the Arts, IEUA-QNT/IEUA, TAFE, university where the content/topic/theme is based on early childhood education.
(f) Professional development for the purposes of this clause does not include first aid or fire safety training.
(g) Should a teacher wish to have any other activity recognised as relevant professional development for the purposes of this clause, they are required to provide details of attendance (including hours), the nature of the course work involved and the providers of the course.

Senior Teacher. Teachers shall have access to the Senior Teacher classification. The details of this classification are set out in Appendix 3.
Senior Teacher. 1.1 A full time permanent teacher is eligible to be a Senior Teacher when he/she:
(a) has been on the classification Band 3 Step 5 for a period of twelve (12) months; and
(b) signs and presents to the Principal an undertaking clearly consistent with Clause 2 Senior Teacher Action Plan.
1.2 The College will confirm advice to the teacher regarding the teacher’s eligibility to be a Senior Teacher, following a written request from a teacher for such confirmation. Such confirmation will be in writing and identify the date of eligibility.
1.3 The teacher may submit a Senior Teacher Action Plan (see 2 below) prior to the eligibility date. However, remuneration as a Senior Teacher will commence only from the date of eligibility.
Senior Teacher. To progress to the Senior Teacher classification a teacher must apply to the Principal in writing on or before 31 March of the year prior to the possible commencement of the Senior Teacher status addressing each of the criteria listed below on the relevant application forms:
(i) Complete a minimum of 12 months (1 year) full time equivalent service at Level 2.8 of the salary scale, or one year full time equivalent service at level 2.9 of the salary scale and
(ii) Undertake relevant professional development as agreed between the parties or one (I) unit of relevant study at a University or TAFE College.
(iii) The teacher will continue to exhibit sound teaching practices, knowledge of relevant academic content areas, involvement in curriculum development, participation in professional development and pmticipation as a team member in the School.
