For 12 Hour Shift Employees. All hours worked as required by the employer beyond the ending of an employee’s ordinary hours of work or rostered shift is overtime and is paid at the rate of ordinary time and one half of the ordinary rate of pay plus shift loading of the employee for the additional hours worked on that occasion that they work. Overtime worked on a Saturday by a 12 hour shift worker shall be paid at the rate of time and one half of the employee’s ordinary rate of pay plus shift loading for the period of overtime worked. This provision shall not apply to a shift worker during their rostered hours of work. Overtime worked on a Sunday by a 12 hour shift worker shall be paid at the rate of time and one half of the employee’s ordinary rate of pay plus shift loading for the period of overtime worked. This provision shall not apply to a shift worker during their rostered hours of work. It is agreed between the parties that, where practical, the employee/s shall be available on rostered days off to work other printers’ shifts left vacant through illness or annual leave provided that minimum rest breaks requirements are met. The employer may require an employee to work reasonable overtime at overtime rates and such employee shall work overtime in accordance with such requirements. An employee may refuse to work overtime in circumstances where the working of overtime would result in the employee working hours which are unreasonable having regard to: (i) any risk to employee health and safety; (ii) the employee’s personal circumstances including family responsibilities; (iii) the needs of the workplace or Company; (iv) the notice (if any) given by the employer of the overtime and by the employee of their intention to refuse it; and (v) any other relevant matter.

  • Shift Employees Employees who work rotating shift patterns or those who work qualifying shifts shall be entitled, on completion of 12 months employment on shift work, to up to an additional 5 days annual leave, based on the number of qualifying shifts worked. The entitlement will be calculated on the annual leave anniversary date. Qualifying shifts are defined as a shift which involves at least 2 hours work performed outside the hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm, excluding overtime.
