Governing Board Composition. The Board of Trustees strives to include leaders from multiple realms, including professionals, community leaders, and parents. Additional qualifications include but are not limited to: commitment to advancing the principles and values of the DECA PREP; willingness to devote the time required; ability to exercise sound judgment; and history of involvement in community/civic activities, including active board membership and leadership. There are currently four officer positions for the Board of Trustees: chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer. Officer positions are subject to change at the discretion of the board, and any such changes will be reflected in the bylaws of the governing board. The school will notify the sponsor within thirty (30) days of a board member’s resignation or appointment.

He is currently employed by the Scioto Voice as a staff writer. He is also self-employed as a security consultant. This is his nineteenth year as the Governing Board president of SCS. Xx. XxXxxx graduated from East High School, now SCS, and then attended Indian River Community College in Florida and Shawnee State University. He was employed by the City of Portsmouth and recently retired from the position as an air-quality specialist for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. This is his seventeenth year on the Governing Board of SCS. Xx. Xxxxxxx graduated from East High School, now SCS, in the class of 1963. His first employment was for five years at Westinghouse Electric in Columbus, Ohio. He then returned to the Portsmouth area to assume a position at the New Boston Coke Plant, where he worked for thirty-one years, serving as a supervisor for the last eleven years before retirement. He has also been a Pure Fish Representative since 1985. This is his seventeenth year on the Governing Board of SCS. Xxx. Xxxxxxx is a long-time member of the Sciotoville community. Xxx. Xxxxxxx is a graduate of Capital University (1987) and has a master’s degree in social work from Ohio State University (1988). Since graduation, she has worked in a variety of roles as a licensed independent social worker in Florida, Kentucky, and Ohio and is currently employed by Department of Veteran’s Affairs as a member of the Home-Based Primary Care Team. Governing Board Composition. The Center shall be governed and controlled by a Board of Trustees consisting of six (6) members (the “Center Board”). Each of the Boards of Trustees of the Affiliated School Districts shall select two (2) members to serve on the Center Board. The terms of the members of the Center B oard shall be concurrent with their terms on the Affiliated School Districts’ Boards of Trustees. Vacancies shall be filled by the Board of Trustees of the particular Affiliated School District in which the vacancy occurred. The Superintendents of the Affiliated School Districts shall serve as ex-officio non- voting members of the Center Board. The Superintendents shall be administrative members of the Center Board and shall jointly nominate staff and assume such responsibility for and perform such duties as may be prescribed by law or by regulations of the State Board of Education or as may be prescribed by the Center Board. The respective Boards of Trustees of the Affiliated School Districts shall select members of the Center Board, and the Center Board shall convene t o elect one member as Chair and one member as Vice-Chair. PHOENIX Board of Directors (PBOD) has contracted with Board On Track for board governance training and related services. Working with Board on Track, the PCLC board has created viable goals and reasonable milestones that will strengthen our board and support learning and achievement in our school. PBOD has established Friends of the PHOENIX, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, created to provide support and vet potential PBOD members for the Phoenix Community Learning Center.. PBOD is actively working to on-board additional board members and have requested that all board members and members of affiliated organizations make a serious effort to identify and recommend potential members. PBOD is actively seeking potential board members from local businesses, community agencies, and colleges and universities. Through the course of our engagement in Cincinnati, CWC Schools is building a pool of locally based, high-quality candidates to become founding CWC Cincinnati board members. These candidates have a range of nonprofit, community-based organization, service provider, business, family, talent, philanthropic, and legal expertise. It is critical that the founding board are aligned with the CWC Way and our Learning Model, mission, purpose, core values, and operating norms. The five-member founding members of the CWC Cincinnati board of directors will have the required skills/expertise to govern the region, and three members will agree to serve as one of the following: chair, treasurer, or secretary. CWC Schools will work with CWC Cincinnati’s board and leadership to continue to recruit future board members as CWC Cincinnati establishes itself. In existing CWC regions, this process typically involves the identification of potential board members, followed by multiple interview rounds with a regional board member, regional leadership, and a CWC Schools leadership staff member present.
