INCIDENTAL LEAVE. 39 Employees may request incidental leave for one (1) hour or less when such request would not 40 necessitate the hiring of a substitute to include but not limited to: picking up sick children, brief 41 doctor visits, vehicle or family emergencies, etc. Such requests should be reasonable and necessary 42 and should be for unique situations and rare occurrences. This leave is subject to the approval of the 43 supervisor.

INCIDENTAL LEAVE. Casual and incidental leaves may be granted by an employee's supervisor provided that the time lost is less than half a day, and it is not necessary to employ a replacement.
INCIDENTAL LEAVE. The Chief, in his/her discretion, may grant an employee up to three (3) days per year of incidental leave without loss of pay. Incidental leave may be used for dental appointments, appointments for physical examinations, transportation of a sick member of the immediate family to or from a hospital or doctor's office, to perform voting privileges, family emergencies, or to conduct urgent personal business, such as real estate closing, which cannot be scheduled outside normal working hours. Incidental leave may also be granted to members of the department to attend Police oriented functions such as sporting events, competitions or gatherings which promote the department in a positive and productive manner. The aforementioned leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

The granting process shall reside with the building level administrator.

  • Parental Leave (a) An employee who becomes a parent, and who has been employed for at least thirteen (13) weeks immediately preceding the date of the birth of child or the date the child first came into care or custody of the employee, shall be entitled to parental leave.
