Reporting for Duty Sample Clauses
Reporting for Duty. Where an employee is not notified beforehand not to report for duty, and he reports for work at his scheduled starting time, he shall be paid for the entire shift even when work is not available in his normal assignment. In such circumstances, the employee may be required to perform other available work.
Reporting for Duty. 1. Employees have a responsibility to report to work ready, willing, able, and in proper attire promptly at the beginning of their scheduled work period. Notwithstanding Sections 10.1(2) and 11.3(4), employees must be in their assigned duty uniform at all times during their work shift. Clean-up time authorized IAW Section 11.10 may not be used to change into or out of civilian clothes.
2. Except in the case of an emergency, employees will notify their immediate supervisor as soon as possible, but not later than two (2) hours after beginning of the work shift, of the conditions that prevented them, or will prevent them, from reporting to work on time. If the employee is incapacitated and/or physically unable to initiate contact, then the Agency may accept tardiness or absence notice from an employee's next of kin. The mere act of calling within the two (2) hour window does not automatically deem an employee’s absence from work as excused. Unexcused tardiness may become the basis for disciplinary action.
3. When an employee cannot establish positive verbal contact with their first level supervisor, then employees should attempt to make contact with their next level of supervision, and continue to do so, until an Agency representative is reached, in order to provide notice. Co-workers cannot be used to relay information concerning tardiness or absence.
4. Tardiness and absence notices, regardless of the circumstances, should be provided verbally by the employee directly to their supervisor. However, employees may use other modes of acceptable communication, such as voice mail, email, and/or text messaging, as a secondary method of attempting to provide notice, or when all efforts to verbally contact the supervisor have been reasonably exhausted by the employee.
5. Tardiness and absences from duty of less than one (1) hour may be excused when the reasons are justified to the supervisor. When tardiness is not justifiable, or when tardiness or unexcused absences from work of less than one (1) hour become habitual, an employee must be charged compensatory time, annual leave, leave without pay, or be placed in absence without leave status (AWOL). In addition, the absence may become the basis for disciplinary action. The employee will not be permitted or be required to work during any period for which leave is charged. Justifiable reasons are events which are beyond the employees control such as abnormal traffic congestion, severe weather, or any other type of even...

If there is no mutually agreed date, the employee shall report for duty as specified in the appointment letter sent by registered mail to the employee’s last known address. Failure to report for duty as specified will automatically cancel the awarding of the position to the employee. The employee will remain on layoff status. The employer will then award the position to the next qualified applicant. If the next or subsequent successful applicants are also on layoff, this clause will continue to apply until the position has been filled.
Reporting for Duty. 1. Employees will report for duty on-time.
