Internet Filtering. The school will use technology protection measures in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act(CIPA) to protect minors and all users against access through such computers to visual depictions that are violent, obscene, constitute child pornography, or are otherwise harmful to minors.

Internet Filtering. Internet filtering will be utilized using two systems. The iBoss program will be used “Outside of the School Network” and will be administered and activated at all times when the laptop is not connected to the in-school network. The Fortinet program will be activated “During School Hours” and when the laptop is connected to the in- school network. The Fortinet filter is restrictive, preventing access to sites that BCHS feels could overtax bandwidth use or be distracting or disruptive to the school environment. The iBoss filter will allow for additional sites to be viewed such as popular social networking sites, while still blocking inappropriate material. Non- Chromebooks/in-school computer systems will be filtered using Fortinet program.

Internet access for all users is filtered by a filtering system provided through the school system’s ISP and by the district firewall system through one central point, by URL and IP address. B. URLs and IP addresses may be added to or deleted from the filtered list by the District Technology staff. C. Employees may request a review for override of filtered sites from the District Technology staff.

Parents/ guardians are responsible for monitoring their child's use of the internet and access to District technology resources.

Any attempt to bypass this will result in the revocation of the student’s mobile learning device as well as disciplinary action. • I will take good care of my mobile learning device. • I will never leave my mobile learning device unattended. • I will never loan out my mobile learning device to other individuals. • I will know where my mobile learning device is at all times. • I will charge my digital device’s battery daily. • I will keep food and beverages away from my mobile learning device since they may cause damage to the device. • I will not disassemble any part of my mobile learning device or attempt any repairs. • I will use my mobile learning device in ways that are appropriate, meet Maine-Endwell Central School Districts expectations, and are educational. • I will not attempt to bypass the district content filter or make other system changes to the mobile learning device. • I will not place decorations (such as stickers, markers, etc.) on my mobile learning device; I will not remove the identification sticker from my mobile learning device or accessories. • I understand that my mobile learning device is subject to inspection at any time without notice and remains the property of the Maine-Endwell Central School District. • I have no expectation of privacy for Internet searches and all actions on the mobile learning device. • I will follow the information outlined in the Mobile Learning Device User Agreement, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Code of Conduct while at school, as well as outside the school day. • I will immediately report if my mobile learning device becomes damaged, lost, or stolen. • I shall be financially responsible for all damage or loss caused by neglect or abuse. • I agree to return the mobile digital device and all original accessories in good working condition.

The user does not have any right of privacy or ownership whatsoever in relation to his/her use of the School network and/or email. Consequently, all electronic and telephone communication systems and all communication and information transmitted by, received from, or stored in any manner are the property of the Parish, School or Diocese and are to be used for educational purposes only. To ensure that the use of the network is consistent with the educational objectives and philosophy of the School, Parish, and Diocese, authorized representatives may monitor the use of the network from time to time, which may include the printing and reading of all information stored, and all emails entering, leaving or stored and all files created and saved in the system. The system administrator (Principal or designee, Pastor) may remove any material stored by the users which violates the terms of this Agreement.

Internet safety measures shall be implemented that effectively address the following: 1. Controlling access by students to inappropriate matter on the Internet; 2. Safety and security of students when using any form of direct electronic communications; 3. Preventing unauthorized access, including “hacking” and other unlawful activities by students on-line; and 4. Restricting students’ access to materials that may be inappropriate or harmful to them. F. All students will participate in Internet safety training, which is integrated into the District’s instructional program in grades K-12. Schools will use existing avenues of communication to inform parents, grandparents, caregivers, community stakeholders and other interested parties about Internet safety. G. The District’s Internet Safety Policy and the Technology Responsible Use Agreement shall be reviewed, annually.

I will not share my password with anyone besides your teachers and parents. ● I understand that linking to other websites to support my thoughts and ideas is recommended. However, I will be sure to read and review the entire website prior to linking to ensure that all information is appropriate for a school setting. ● I will be aware that pictures may also be protected under copyright laws and will verify that I have permission to use the image or that it is under Creative Commons attribution. ● I know that representing myself online is an extension of me and will not misrepresent myself by using someone else’s identity. ● I understand that online work should be well written, by following writing conventions including proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation.
