Jury or Court Witness Leave. 23.1 When an employee is absent by reason of a summons to serve as a juror or a subpoena to serve as witness, the employee shall not suffer any loss of salary or wages while serving. The amount paid by the Board shall be the difference between the employee’s normal salary and the indemnity (exclusive of travel and sustenance) paid by the court. This article shall not apply to an employee who has a direct interest in the outcome of any proceedings or who is appearing as an accused in any proceedings.

(b) The Corporation shall pay such an employee the difference between their normal earnings and the payment they receive for Jury Services or Court Witness, excluding payment for travelling, meals, or other expenses. (c) Time spent by an employee required to serve as a Court Witness in any matter arising out of their employment shall be considered as time worked at the appropriate rate of pay.
Jury or Court Witness Leave. An Employee who provides a summons obligating them to attend to be considered as a potential juror or to serve as a juror or is required by writ or subpoena to appear in Court as a witness during the Employee’s scheduled working hours, shall be paid their regular pay for the time the Employee is required to be in Court, providing the Employee pays over to the Corporation the amount received by them as such juror or witness, excluding mileage and travelling expenses.
