Length of the Day. All full-time employees covered under this contract shall work eight hours percontract day including a duty-free lunch period. Part-time employees' working hours will be set by the building principal.
Length of the Day. The total in-school workday for middle school and high school teachers shall consist of not more than eight (8) hours which shall include a duty free lunch period of at least twenty-five (25) consecutive minutes. For elementary school teachers the total in-school workday shall consist of not more than eight (8) hours and ten (10) minutes Monday through Wednesday, eight (8) hours and five (5) minutes on Thursday, and on Friday shall be no more than seven (7) hours and twenty (20) minutes.

School will be dismissed one (1) hour early before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break holiday/vacation periods. When employees are employed under a part-time contract, the administration shall make a reasonable attempt to schedule non-contract time at the beginning or end of the day or week. Those employees considered part-time under this contract will be present for Parent-Teacher Conferences and Professional Development (unless otherwise stated in contract) and shall be paid on a per diem basis. On days of scheduled professional development/in-service activities, normal contract hours will apply unless a 48-hour notice is given to staff. On days of early dismissal for holiday/vacation periods, normal arrival and departure times as noted.

In the event that XxXX determines that it is necessary to extend the school day and/or school year in order to accomplish the mission of the school, XxXX must (1) secure funding to operate on an extended basis, and (2) request and receive permission from the Superintendent/designee to do so.

This attendance exception shall not apply if extenuating circumstances occur on such Fridays or days preceding school holidays which, in the judgment of the building administrator, requires teacher attendance, (i.e., emergencies, etc).
