Merit Days. A. For employees hired prior to December 31, 1990, the following applies: In addition to the one (1) day per month accrual of vacation, one (1) merit vacation day shall be added for each consecutive year of service following the first full year to a maximum of ten (10) merit days (i.e. after completion of the eleventh consecutive year of service, the employee would accrue twelve (12) days plus ten merit days).

Merit Days. In addition to the one (1) day per month accrual of vacation, one (1) merit vacation day shall be added for each consecutive year of service following the first full year on the employee’s anniversary date to a maximum of ten (10) merit days (i.e., after completion of the eleventh consecutive year of service, the employee would accrue twelve (12) days plus ten (10) merit days). For purposes of this section, anniversary date is defined as the month and the day of an employee’s current seniority date in the bargaining unit. Upon termination of employment an employee shall be paid for merit days accrued to date of termination with no pro-ration. [See attached Settlement Resolution, August 1998 (Merit Days)].

If a driver currently has accumulated the maximum of ten (10) merit days and is granted two (2) additional days (earned the prior year), he/she must use the two days in the current year or the days will be forfeited. However, if the driver applies to use either or both days and is denied the time, the driver shall be paid at the current step 1 base pay rate for the day(s) denied. This is the only situation in which a driver is paid at a rate lower than his/her own rate.
Merit Days. Each employee will be eligible to qualify for a one (1) Merit Day if over a 90 calendar day period the employee does not take a sick/emergency or unpaid leave day. Twelve (12) month employees can earn up to four (4) Merit Days. Ten (10) month employees can earn up to three (3) Merit Days. Preapproved absences (personal, funeral, jury leave) do not impact eligibility for earning a Merit Day. The use of a Merit Day is subject to prior approval from the Director of Facilities and Transportation and may only be taken when school is not in session. It is the sole responsibility of the employee to notify the Director of Facilities and Transportation upon completion of the 90-day period. Merit Days must be used in the fiscal year they were earned (July 1 through June 30), unless earned in the last quarter of the fiscal year and cannot otherwise be used by June 30. A Merit Day earned in the last quarter of the fiscal year, must be used prior to the start of the next school year. Upon approval of the Director of Facilities and Transportation, unused Merit Days may be placed in the employee’s sick and emergency bank.

  • Bereavement Days In the case of bereavement of immediate family (as defined in article IX.G.1 below), employees will be given three (3) days that do not count against personal or sick leave. Additional bereavement days taken will be deducted from sick leave.

  • Lieu Days Where an employee is granted a lieu day pursuant to Clause 17.3 or 17.4 of this Agreement, the time off granted will be seven (7) hours per lieu day for a full-time employee and prorated for a part-time employee.

  • Furlough Days A furlough day is defined as a day during the fiscal year on which employees do not report to work and are not paid. Furloughs are designed to address temporary emergency financial circumstances that threaten the financial well- being of the institution. Therefore, the President, with approval of the Board of Trustees, may temporarily place all bargaining unit eligible employees on leave without pay status when the state does not fully fund the base operating grant in any particular fiscal year. The Board shall approve the duration and dates of the furlough, after notifying the Union of the State’s failure to fund the base operating grant necessitating the need for furlough days. Employees shall be given at least 30 days’ notice of a furlough. No more than 5 furlough days shall fall within the same pay period. If the Board implements more than 10 furlough days in a fiscal year, the College shall not implement a reduction in force for unit members during the same fiscal year. If after furlough days have been implemented, the College receives full funding of the State base operating grant in a particular fiscal year, unit members who had unpaid furlough days during that year and remain employed with the College shall be reimbursed for their lost earnings due to the unpaid furlough days.

  • Days Unless otherwise specifically indicated to the contrary, the word "days" as used in this Lease shall mean and refer to calendar days.

  • Scheduled Days Off Except in cases of emergency, no employee will be required to return to his/her place of employment on his/her scheduled day off.
